You would be surprised by how many industry professionals/entrepreneurs with service-based business have not sat down and just looked at a camera to simply say who they are or what they do. Combining videography with social media has been a bigger jump for human communication than when humans went from carrier pigeon to hard-wired phone lines. I've done PR for a long time and understand the frustration some have around not securing press. Sometimes the fix is simple: #1 Have a professional headshot ready to send quickly and make sure the receiver can download it. It is fine to provide a link to a photo or photos centered around your pitch. Your aren't helping your chances by having people search for photos of you. #2 Have a short bio prepared and ready to go. No, you don't need to list every award or accolade. Keep it simple and focused on what you do and how you do it. #3 Ensure videos aren't grainy or distorted. This will save you time from having to go back and forth with sending videos. Also, send it via email whenever possible. #4 Make sure all your information is correct. Check the address, phone number, times, bus routes or whatever information is associated with your event. #pr #branding #media

❓“Should we launch our new product at a major event or trade show?" ☝️Here's my take: 📅 ⏰ Clients often ask my advice on the best timing for major announcements. Many are curious about launching a new product or service at big events like CES or the Pebble Beach Concours. While it really depends on the brand and the impact of the announcement, here are the "sliding doors"-style factors to consider: ➡️Do the launch if: 👍 You actually have a footprint at the event so journalists can interact with the product and with you. One of the biggest benefits of trade shows is that tons of great journalists are in one place. Having a booth allows them to easily find you and your product may impress an editor that didn't make it onto your interview schedule. 👍 You don't mind sharing the spotlight with other brands. Because there is so much news coming out of such events, you are more likely to end up in a trend piece or round-up than a standalone story. ➡️ Don't do it if: 👎 Your new product doesn't really move the needle forward for your company or the broader industry. These trade shows showcase the most innovative ideas in their particular space. How does your announcement stack up? 👎 The product is not *quite* ready yet. If you're still working with renderings and unconfirmed specs, it's best to do an online announcement/teaser or to wait until you have a production-ready unit. 🌟Do you agree with this?
