Full video to impact below. When working on cases like this, I always want to bring in the most relevant research, to the specific case, that I can find. In this case, we have a vehicle that is approximately 73 degrees to the roadway with its headlights pointing to the right and the taillights on the left. Jeff Muttart and Swaroop Dinakar (with others), published a paper "The Influence of Driver Expectation when Recognizing Lighting Targets at Nighttime". Figure 1 in this paper shows a vehicle at 70-degrees with headlights pointing right and taillights on the left! The paper discusses the issues of recognizing the fact that the red lights on the left and the white lights on the right are in fact taillights and headlights attached to a vehicle across the roadway. How perfect?!?! https://lnkd.in/gJYsgwmi
Below is the entire lighting simulation that Anthony Cornetto and Jeffrey Suway, P.E. worked on. This video goes up to impact. As shown and discussed by others, the previous post stopped playing at the "point of no return." This means that if you did not see the vehicle, as a vehicle in the roadway requiring an immediate emergency response (slam on the brakes), you hit that car that was sideways in the highway. See the old post below: https://lnkd.in/gABPeGRG

Many firefighters have stated that their TIC froze or whited out. Newer cameras do not "white out" due to heat. However, if a firefighter scans too fast and doesn't understand the difference between high and low sensitivity; it could cost them dearly.
