Meet the Menopause Friendly Independent Panel 🤝 Jog Hundle is an Employment Partner at Mills & Reeve. She leads the Health and Care employment team, having specialised in the sector for over 30 years. She has been a member of the Menopause Friendly Independent Panel since 2021. Looking at organisations striving to achieve the Menopause Friendly Accreditation, Jog says, “I believe the standout practices we see in applications are those which focus on sharing knowledge and experiences. Powerful case studies, and the learnings from them, often encourage informal practices like chat rooms and coffee groups. This knowledge then frequently leads into menopause guidance and policies, with the best practice here being those which are regularly reviewed and refreshed. For those employers looking at reaccreditation, I’d like to see that they haven’t stood still. It’s not just about presenting a picture, but showing how they’ve grown in their practices and procedures. What has the traction been, are they taking on board what their employees have told them? That’s progress in itself. I’d also like to see what they’re doing on the ground to further embed menopause friendly policies and practices." Menopause Awareness at Wrigleys  Today, we shine a light on Menopause Awareness. At Wrigleys, our journey towards becoming Menopause Friendly Accredited has been transformative. We’ve invited external speakers, launched a comprehensive menopause policy, introduced training for all colleagues on our LMS platform, and appointed a menopause champion. But our commitment doesn’t stop there. Understanding and supporting menopause in the workplace is crucial for fostering an inclusive and supportive environment. Next month, we are rolling out menopause training for our partners and managers to equip them with the knowledge and tools to support their teams through this important stage. #MenopauseAwareness #WorkplaceWellness #SupportEachOther

I will be delivering Menopause Awareness training on the 1st May at 1pm, free of charge as part of a pilot before I apply for funds to roll it out in the community. This Menopause Awareness training has been designed for anyone, it's not just for those personally experiencing menopause symptoms. The course covers; * What is the difference between perimenopause and menopause? * When does it happen? * What are the symptoms? * How can I help if someone is going through the menopause? * Your role as a manager * How to start a conversation * Carrying out risk assessments and making appropriate adjustments. There is also a menopause wellness toolkit that every participant will take away, this has been designed to be used by a manager with an employee or as an individual. If you would like to take part in the training, message and I’ll send over the details.

As part of improved DEI initiatives, Labour propose to introduce a Menopause Action Plan. The policy for businesses exceeding 250 employees intends to transform attitudes towards menopause… the exact details of which remain unknown (for now). It’s a subject that I’m deeply passionate about. Not only supporting menopausal employees, but opening up the wider conversation to include leaders and colleagues. Thus, creating a truly inclusive work environment where everyone gets the support and understanding they need. Not to mention that it benefits life in general too. Everyone knows someone who will go through menopause – so any support, education or training is no bad thing. Just recently I’ve taken our menopause workshops into some amazing pro-active organisations who are already implementing menopause-specific benefits with immediate positive impacts.
