This PostgreSQL extension makes your vector search blazingly fast. ⚡️ You may know that you can use PostgreSQL with the PGVector extension to perform vector search. But it's not as fast as its competitors like Pinecone or Qdrant. PGVectorscale, written in Rust, aims for super-fast vector search for Postgres with PGVector. Look at the comparison below where Postgres gets a huge performance boost. Check it out: https://lnkd.in/dw2QqgsK

We've just released pg_duckdb, a Postgres extension that embeds the DuckDB engine within Postgres. You can achieve a massive performance boost (x10!!!) by querying your existing Postgres tables using DuckDB — all with just an extension, without leaving Postgres! 🤯 And there's more... but I'm currently cooking a video for you all 🎥 In the meantime, here's the blog announcement: https://lnkd.in/esrFxbxS

I had a wonderful time speaking about full-text search in Postgres @ PGConfNYC this week. If you're curious to dive into the state of Postgres FTS and how ParadeDB pg_search improves it, you can find my slides here: https://lnkd.in/e5jZ26wu

I've published the slides (https://lnkd.in/eQruacfs) on the #pgvector internals talk I gave at PostgreSQL Conference Europe 2024 entitled "Dissimilarity search: implementing in-memory vector search algorithms to #PostgreSQL". Because of the pgvector 0.8 release a week later, it needs at least 20 more now, but that's what makes working on vector search fun!

🚀 Just dropped a new article! Check it out here: https://lnkd.in/gbvKegFj This one dives into the FILTER clause in Postgres and looks at different ways to tackle an SQL example, with FILTER as one of the cool options. This might be the grand finale of this article series on PostgreSQL. 🔒 Stay tuned for more fun stuff!

A large part of giving a successful talk is having a great, engaging story and being able to deliver it well. That's a given (nobody likes boring recitations!) But there's also KYA—Know Your Audience. If you are unsure who's coming, it could be a struggle to extract a story worth delivering. There are so many factors affecting who's actually going to be there in the room. I want to laser focus on those who are coming — literally. In a few weeks, I am delivering a talk on the challenges and prospects of developing sophisticated Postgres extensions (https://lnkd.in/gZnHR2gc), and I'd like to know who's coming. The mechanics are simple: comment to check-in/wave 👋 here if you are coming or would have come if you were attending Postgres Conference 2024 in San Jose. Come. There will be nice little surprises for those who checked in and came! See you there. I am looking forward to delivering the best talk that is tuned just for you. P.S. I don't have a perfect reach yet. Can you help me by sharing this post? 🙏

Fellow Postgres people: next week, you have a choice: you can keep working, or you can do whatever you would typically do at a conference at the upcoming Postgres Conference https://lnkd.in/gwc226-V ...Socialize? Learn? Roam the hallways? You do you! You can also find the Omnigres table and chat with us. You can learn about unusual things Postgres can do! https://lnkd.in/gsS-Vzyp You can even push the envelope on what's possible with Postgres extensions with me; we like crazy ideas, and I will hold your beer if you need me to: https://lnkd.in/gZnHR2gc Or you can do none of that. But if you do, you can do it slightly cheaper with the 2024_Omnigres_15 code.
