What a proud moment for the Indian #Airforce and the #defence forces! The four astronaut-designates selected for the Gaganyaan mission of #India are Group Captain Prasanth Balakrishnan Nair, Group Captain Ajit Krishnan, Group Captain Angad Pratap and Wing Commander Shubhanshu Shukla. The Gaganyaan Mission marks India's inaugural human #space flight program, for which extensive preparations are underway across various ISRO centres. Indian Space Research Organisation (#ISRO) is targeting a launch window between 2024 and 2025 for this ambitious endeavour. This mission will send an Indian into space after a long gap of 4 decades. These four ace #pilots are our best, and have been trained in technical knowledge as well as physical fitness, to ensure they stay well during the mission. Three out of them will finally man the mission while one stays reserve. India has a thriving space programme, and the #success of this mission will put us in an elite group of countries with capability to send humans into space. Earlier this week, Mr Tobias Billström, Swedish Minister for Foreign affairs, visited NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration and other space organizations and related industries in Texas, USA. The purpose was to present Sweden’s ambition as a space nation and to further develop the relationship with the U.S. space industry. “Sweden is actively pursuing space diplomacy and has an advanced space industry. We are well placed to contribute to international cooperation in relation to research, innovation and security – not least through the Esrange Space Center. That’s why it’s important to make public and private actors in Texas aware of Sweden’s capabilities and ambitions in this field,” said Mr Billström. In a follow-up, SSC CEO Charlotta Sund was interviewed by Swedish Television (SVT) about the possibility to utilize Esrange for military satellite launches. She concluded that SSC already has great knowledge and ability to offer a wide range of advanced space services to various industries, academia and research. In offering satellite launch capabilities, SSC will add to its current capabilities as a natural part of the future space defence domain. First Person@Moon: Commander Neil Armstrong, US Navy; he is the 1st person to set his foot in moon. But, do you know who was supposed to be the 1st person? Many don't know... His name is Colonel Edwin C Aldarin... He was the Chief Pilot for the Apollo mission. He was working for the US Air Force. Moreover he had experience of space walking, hence selected as the Chief Pilot. Commander Neil Armstrong worked for the US Navy. He was selected for his courage as Second In Command & Co-pilot. When the Apollo mission landed on moon, they received a command from NASA, "Chief Pilot First". But Colonel Aldarin was hesitant, "what will happen", "will I get sucked in or will I burn out", etc. The hesitation was not for hours, but few seconds. In the meantime, NASA sent the next command, "Co-Pilot next". Within next second, Commander Neil Armstrong put his foot on the Moon & became part of World history. World history was changed in 1 second... Though Colonel Aldarin had the qualification and talent, because of hesitation, he is not recognised by most people in the World. The world remembers only person who comes first... This is a good example of how good & talented people lose out because of hesitation & fear. *Whenever you see the Moon, remember this*: a moments hesitation can stop us from our *greatest victory*. * We all have great potential* in us, the only thing that stops us from achieving what we are supposed to achieve is our hesitation, fear and shyness.
