Switching off is something that I used to find incredibly challenging 😥 I started my business to help entrepreneurs remove the constant content creation overwhelm and leverage evergreen client acquisition system to grow profitability and peacefully… and also to have the freedom to do things that fuel me. Yet since owning my own business, work really has become my life and while I’m incredibly grateful for the position I’m in, there have definitely been times when I wish I could have switched off. I believe growing a business comes in seasons: There are seasons where you need to go ALL IN and do whatever is required to move the vision forward. And there are seasons where you need to honor your need for rest, reflection and rejuvenation. Otherwise you slowly become resentful of your baby AKA your business! 😅 And end up burned out At least that’s what happened to me in 2022. 🫠 So here’s what I’ve done to make switching off a little bit easier : ✨ Scheduling time away from work to make sure I plug into people that I love the most ✨ Prioritising daily and weekly self care activities (massages, gym, fancy lunches, etc) ✨ Using my phone/tablet notes app when I come up with ideas rather than taking my laptop with me ✨Hiring a team and learning how to be a better leader so I can peacefully turn off emails and slack notifications knowing my clients are taken care of. Did it happen overnight? Nope. Has it been easy? Absolutely not. But is it worth it? Yep. Totally. I’ve been in this wild ride for close to 4 years now, so it took « a minute » to make these adjustments. So don’t let comparison steal your joy and remember why you started in the first place: I bet you’ll realize you’re a lot more successful than you think. It's been 20 months since I launched Intersection: Health and it's taken until... now... to find my groove. 😅 Last month, for the first time, I felt total FLOW. I am working with the right partners on highly motivating work, I'm excited to show up every day, I'm not *unnecessarily* stressed, and I have a legitimate handle on all the back office stuff; calendaring, workplace tools, contracts, invoicing, taxes, and so on. Lots of areas for improvement, but the foundation feels solid. In other words: Wow, it took me 20 months to get here, but I'm SO GLAD I KEPT GOING. I've truly never been happier when it comes to work. While I am a client service girly, I still have endless flexibility and autonomy over the people I work with and the work we do. I've become more comfortable with setting expectations and having boundaries with others. And as a result, I enjoy my working relationships more than when I didn't assert my needs as directly. I've also embraced that some of the things I did in a past career life are not what I enjoy as much doing now. I've zeroed in on my Genius Zone and prioritized doing work there. Positioning, storytelling through a marketing lens, and close collaboration with likeminded creative and entrepreneurial partners. That is my jam. Hopefully this inspires someone who is just getting going, or six to 12 months into it and facing some struggles. **It takes time to find that FLOW** I made mistakes, lost confidence, had negative experiences, worried, all of it. It's part of the process, for sure, and it gives you the necessary experience and skills to improve. I still have much to learn and grow but recent past has taught me; the juice is worth the squeeze. I'm more prepared than I was 20 months ago to navigate any challenge with grace. And much, much happier, too. #entrepreneur #resilience #foundersmindset

When Irit began to feel unappreciated at her workplace, she decided it was time to move on.   She served her employer a month’s notice, eager to explore other options. Three days after her notice period ended, the Covid pandemic shut the world down. She soon realized that no company would be hiring new talent anytime soon. Seeing an opportunity in adversity, Irit decided this was the time to do her own thing. Using her experience as a manager and in-house product owner at a SaaS startup, she launched her business management and automation strategy consultancy, Day by Day. Operating a consultancy required her to begin from the ground up. Establishing herself as an authority in the field was the first significant step. She had to convince people that she was the right person to streamline their business processes. “I had to find my voice and build my brand,” says Irit. She gained an audience through LinkedIn posts and tried to understand what people needed. She started building relationships, which she says is crucial for any business. “Take advantage of the time you have before your pipeline is full to meet with as many people as you can. Those relationships will help you build your business, even if those specific people don’t hire you,” she says. In terms of the journey so far, she discovered her resilience and the inherent helpfulness in people, and that asking for help is a sign of strength. She believes that new business owners should pursue their passions and cultivate patience. “Go to work with passion every day. I started 3 new businesses during burnout. Hold your horses before you call me crazy… But here's what happened: I was drowning in my main gig. Long hours, endless stress, no life outside work. Aaaaaand I'm back from 10 rejuvenating days in beautiful Switzerland. As a small business owner, it can feel hard to unplug. Why? Because I've been told: "As an entrepreneur, you need to always be on...  👉🏼 "... posting every day to keep your content fresh." 👉🏼 "... responding to people's comments to maintain momentum."  👉🏼 "And if you want to unplug, hire someone to write and post your content." Early in my business, I listened to this advice. I found myself 😒 Posting when I didn't have anything of value to say 😒 Feeling drained from content creation So I hired someone to create my content... but none of it felt 100% aligned to me and my lived experiences It was unfulfilling and felt like a chore. Over the last few years I began to:  💖 Only post when I have something of value to say  💖 Write my own content because only I can share my random thoughts :)  💖 And unplug when I'm on vacation and need time to get R&R. The engagement on my socials seem to be doing just fine. I've been offline for 10 days now. Will my content see a dip in engagement in the coming days and weeks? Maybe. But what's most important is that I haven't let myself dip in energy and excitement. Remember: Sometimes, you need to unplug things for a bit to get them back up and working, including you.
