While this is not the outcome we hoped for, we are grateful to our tireless state election leads, hardworking canvassers, and dedicated Clean Water members who poured their hearts and countless hours into encouraging Americans to protect our water through their votes. Looking ahead, we must prepare ourselves for potential threats to environmental protections and public health safeguards under the Trump administration. We anticipate challenges to clean water and clean air programs, cuts to federal environmental and public health programs, reversals of climate initiatives, and an abandonment of critical water projects in communities nationwide. We must remain vigilant in fighting rollbacks or new initiatives that will harm front line communities and the most vulnerable among us. But we also need to do more than just play defense - we need to build a mass-based movement that brings together disparate progressive struggles into a unified and formidable political force going forward. Our mission has never been more vital. The Woodland Hills Mobile Home Park in Thornton, Colorado, was cited by the city for a sewer spill that occurred in June. The spill raised health and environmental concerns among residents and city officials. The park's management is working on addressing the issues to prevent future incidents. As mobile home park operators, what proactive measures do you take to prevent environmental issues like sewer spills? When you actually look at the data, when you soberly weigh the risks, when you truly mean to keep water affordable in our state, it is clear that the Delta Conveyance Project is the right choice. The longer we wait, the more expensive it will be and the more likely there will be risks to our water system we could have avoided. If California wants to lead, it will require bold action on infrastructure to ensure a climate resilient future.
