𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗹𝘀: Establishing open communication channels encourages dialogue between new and experienced nurses. Whether through regular meetings, forums, or digital platforms, fostering an environment where questions are welcomed and shared experiences cultivate a sense of community and learning. 3. Nurses are the backbone of healthcare. This is very true as they play a vital role in ensuring that the individual is able to live a normal life despite the health challenges which can only be achieved through direct care and interaction with the patient. I like Virginia Henderson's definition of Nursing. According to Henderson, "The unique function of the nurse is to assist the individual, sick or well, in the performance of those activities contributing to health or its recovery (or to peaceful death) that he would perform unaided if he had the necessary strength, will or knowledge. And to do this in such a way as to help him gain independence as rapidly as possible". Various studies have shown that empowering Nurses with the necessary skills increases productivity and helps in building a comfortable work environment that allows for economic growth. Collaboration with other healthcare professionals and organizations within and outside the hospital setting is also a way of promoting economic growth. Empowerment goes beyond just organizing seminars and having yearly conventions. It should include providing up to date information and materials about modernized methods of care. This can only be achieved when Nurses are well equipped with clinical skillls and knowledge on how to effectively care for each individual with unique characteristics. Empowerment also involves providing essential resources and numerous opportunities that would encourage more Nurses to get involved in Nursing research. It could also include providing scholarships and incentives that would serve as a motivation for them to further their studies and gain more certifications in the postgraduate settings. Most importantly, empowerment should not be restricted to the clinical area alone. Leadership trainings should be mandatory as it would motivate Nurses to take up leadership roles and participate in decision making processes both within and outside the hospital. It would also ensure that their voices are heard and opinions considered. When Nurses are empowered with the right skills and knowledge, there will be maximum satisfaction on the job, exponential progress, and improved patient care.
