Fleets today have more tools than ever at their fingertips to optimize the performance of their vehicles. When Johan Agebrand entered the industry 25 years ago, there were 2,800 programmable parameters on a heavy-duty engine. Today, there are 35,000 to 45,000. Adjusting those parameters, however, requires fleets to strike a balance between maximizing efficiency without compromising performance or driver satisfaction. With inputs from Adam Wolk and Dave Schaller Truck World Show #truck #trucking #sustainability https://lnkd.in/gvxxNrtR

Fuel. Payload. Distance. All critical in the world of Class 8 trucking—an industry that reflects the very veins and arteries of our global economy. 🚚 Indeed, the very heartbeat of our industries pulsates on our highways—thanks to these mighty transport titans. Numerous industries seek a reliable, fuel-efficient, and durable solution for moving their goods from place to place. • The Class 8 Truck: An unsung hero? Absolutely! Understandable in an era where the underside of the tip of the iceberg gets less spotlight than the glamorous face. But let me nudge the spotlight onto the 'engine-room.' • Fuel efficiency: The crux of the matter, the bread and butter, the ROI of any heavy-duty trucking solution. The search always ends here: how efficient can these Class 8 trucks be, and where is the line between efficiency and payload compromise? 🌎 Savvy fleet owners relentlessly chase this elusive balance. • Emission Control: This is not about mere agility and strength now. The stage is set for sustainability and environmental consciousness. With tightened emission standards, Class 8 trucks are indeed steering toward greener horizons. 🌿 • Autonomous Trucks: This reference would be incomplete without mentioning the disruptive power of autonomous technology. Fledgling, yes. Prospective, unquestionably. Many argue that the future of trucking is driverless - a perspective worth considering seriously 🚀 In my books, the Class 8 truck is sophisticated; a pedestal of engineering prowess. It's about endurance, engineering, and above all, efficiency. It moves the economy while 'moving with' the ebbs and flows of changing demands and standards. Getting excited by engines, gears, and wheels? Not quite. It's the thought of contributing to the evolution of an industry that gets my pulse racing. How do we push the barriers of power, adaptability, and environmental friendliness in Class 8 trucks? That's the question I ask you today. Remember, innovation in transportation is not dictated anymore by the power of an engine, but by the brilliance of an idea. To the Class 8 trucking industry, the biggest game-changer is ‘innovation,' and the road is wide open. 🚀 So, let's brainstorm, innovate, and revamp the Class 8 trucking standards. The road ahead may be long, but it promises an exciting ride. Ready to throttle up? #Class8trucking #transportation #innovation #sustainability #autonomoustrucks

The **Advanced Clean Trucks (ACT)** regulation, as outlined by the California Air Resources Board (CARB), aims to reduce emissions from heavy-duty trucks by requiring manufacturers to increase the sale of zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs), starting with the 2024 model year. This regulation primarily targets truck manufacturers (OEMs) who sell more than 500 trucks annually in California. They are required to report their sales and ensure that a growing percentage of their fleet consists of ZEVs or near-zero emission vehicles (NZEVs) over This rule is part of California's broader efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve air quality. It's expected to accelerate the adoption of ZEVs, not just within California but also globally, as many truck manufacturers operate in multiple regions [oai_citation:1,Understanding California’s Advanced Clean Truck Regulation - RMI](https://lnkd.in/gFJxadR6).
