Did you know that the first documented electric vehicle fleet dates back to 1897 and that we have had "modern" day consumer market EV's on our roads since the 1990's? So what's new about vehicle decarbonization in 2024? It's a week to go until Amy and I host a one hour webinar where we plan to share our personal and practical thoughts and insights on the transition to a low carbon road vehicle ecosystem in the US, UK and Europe – with a focus on what we are learning through the work we are doing to help our clients transition and operationalize low carbon fleets. If you are interested in joining us and haven't signed up yet, please click on the link in the post. #PAConsulting #EV's #FleetElectrification #VehicleDecarbonization #ZEVs #CleanAndSmartMobility

Hydro Ottawa on our work together getting our grid ready for more EVs: "EVS are the future of transportation, and we’re ready for it. We’ve studied the potential impacts of widespread EV adoption and what it will take to upgrade our grid throughout our communities and neighbourhoods to ensure a steady power supply to customers. Throughout our service area, we’re expanding smart grid technology to increase grid resilience and efficiency using sensors and automated controls for real-time monitoring and management of electricity flows. This technology would make overnight charging less expensive, encouraging EV owners to charge their vehicles during off-peak hours and reducing strain on the grid. We’re also collaborating with Bluwave-ai to bring the latest innovations to EV charging across Ontario. The company’s EV Everywhere program uses cloud-based artificial intelligence (AI) to better predict EV charging demand, using real-time data on energy costs, grid strain, and available battery energy storage and renewable generation to let drivers know when and where they can get the greenest and cheapest energy for their EV. In the coming months, as part of this collaboration, we’ll be seeking at least 100 Hydro Ottawa residential customers with eligible electric vehicles to actively participate and use this cutting-edge technology. For utilities like us, leveraging technology like this will help us optimize our operations — and ensure our grid is able to handle the increase in demand resulting from the growing number of EVS on our roads." https://lnkd.in/e8hG6-u9

Nissan Motor Corporation has announced it will introduce affordable onboard bi-directional charging on selected #electricvehicles from 2026. The Vehicle to Grid (#V2G) technology enables #EV owners to use electricity stored in their car's battery to power their homes or sell it back into the grid. Hugues Desmarchelier, Nissan vice president, global electrification ecosystem and EV programs, said, "Nissan is proud to democratize technology for the benefit of society. The breakthrough in an onboard solution for two-way charging will be a substantial reduction in the cost of integrating a future EV into your energy supply, and the ability to leverage the car as a source of income over its lifecycle." The addition of EVs and PHEVs to a grid that is experiencing rapid electrification will require a coordinated connected ecosystem. A new level of collaboration between the Utility and Automotive industries would benefit both sectors. However, there can be a win-win relationship only if the two industries collaborate, plan and invest symbiotically. #EVs #PHEVS #automotive #connected #utility

🔋 EV Batteries Outlasting Vehicles? It’s Happening! 🚗💨 Recent studies show EV batteries are going the distance—literally. 📊 On average, they degrade by just 1.8% per year, meaning many batteries could last 20+ years—well beyond the typical lifespan of the vehicle itself (12-15 years). 🌍 This could be a game-changer for the renewable energy sector! 💡 Not only can we expect less waste, but there are opportunities for repurposing these batteries for home or business energy storage. 💼🏠 As battery tech improves, we're reducing degradation anxiety and paving the way for a greener future. See more in the link below>>> 🌱 Ready to power your career in this growing sector? #RenewableEnergy #EVRevolution #BatteryLife #Sustainability #EnergyStorage #TechInnovation #FutureOfEnergy #ElectricVehicles #GreenTech #CircularEconomy
