On May 22 and 23, we had the honor of welcoming the world’s brightest minds in agrifoodtech in person and online for the 9th F&A Next Summit.   🌍 The F&A Community connected with a total of 857 leading startups, scale-ups, investors, corporates and other agrifoodtech enthusiasts from 36 countries spread over 5 continents.   👍 Our summit has been well received and was awarded a visitors’ rating of 8.3 out of 10.   🏆 At the closing of the summit, Jord BioScience was crowned winner of the Feike Sijbesma Sustainable Innovation Award 2024, which includes a €25,000 grant prize. This prestigious award recognizes Jord BioScience’s innovative microbial technologies enhancing crop productivity. Part of the implementing partners are DEEP Ecosystems, RootCamp - A SpinLab Company, TechBBQ, Comune di Matera and Sweden Foodtech. It is a wrap. The Food Tech Congress in Warsaw, one of Europe’s premier events for food tech innovation & investment, brought together 1000+ impactful innovators, venture capitalists, policymakers and the most prominent entrepreneurs to collaborate, push the food industry forward and speed up the revolution.   Two amazing days filled with inspiration, innovation, bold ideas, pitches and incredible food tech insights. Curated networking, numerous discussions, unforgettable experiences and 10 inspiring new themes: food as medicine; alternative proteins; precision fermentation; levelling up safety, security & transparency,; digital from farm to fork; from linear to circular food systems; fighting the food waste battle; the tech-powered future of regenerative agriculture; the future of agritech, and smart money talks.    It was great to see so many of our ground-breaking 2024 startups and EIT Food Accelerator Network alumni attend the event, including Adamo Foods, EcoBean, Esencia Foods, EXOSOMM, GOVA, Holloid and Time-travelling Milkman. Where next for agri-tech? Food, health, environment and wellbeing are intrinsically linked and the decisions made over the next few years will be crucial in determining both food security, and the survival of the 'family farm'. 🌾💰 FoodTech 500 alum nabs funding to expand efforts in digitizing the Agtech sector. Swiss Agtech startup xFarm Technologies has secured €36 million in Series C funding to enhance the digitalization of the AgriFood sector and promote sustainable agriculture. The funding round was led by Partech through its Impact Growth Fund, with participation from Mouro Capital, Swisscom Ventures, United Ventures, and previous investors, signaling strong confidence in xFarm’s potential. The new capital will enable xFarm to consolidate its leadership in Europe and expand its operations across LATAM, India, Turkey, and the US. The company aims to improve its services and tailor them to meet the specific needs of various markets and customers. Founded in 2017 by Matteo Vanotti and Matteo Cunial, xFarm Technologies originated from a need for better technology solutions for small European farms. The platform has attracted over 450,000 farms across more than 100 supply chains globally, utilizing AI and in-field sensors to gather and analyze critical farm data. With recent acquisitions of Greenfield Technologies and SpaceSense, xFarm has positioned itself as a leader in the digitalization of the AgriFood sector, committed to advancing R&D, innovation, and sustainability initiatives.
