What did we learn from the experience with JLOTS in Gaza? That we have a lot of work ahead of us. Every failure, every mistake, every incident. Each serves as a data point where improvement or even radical changes are necessary. More training. Better equipment. Increased analysis. It's a key capability that would be absolutely critical to an conflict in which we had to push logistics ashore in the absence of a working port facility. Like a lot of such capabilities, we were once pretty good at this. We need to regain that expertise and that only comes with time and repetition.

Some days ago, at the African Land Forces Summit #ALFS2024 in Livingstone, Zambia, organized by the U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF), a gathering of military leaders from across the continent convened to address transnational challenges to #Stability. Among the distinguished speakers was Brigadier General Giuseppe De Magistris, Director of the Center of Excellence for Stability Police Units (CoESPU), who delivered a thought-provoking, fascinating and engaging speech on combating #TransnationalOrganizedCrime (TOC). General De Magistris underscored the critical security and policing gaps that, if left unaddressed, could be exploited by transnational criminal organizations, emphasizing the need for a targeted strategy that fights the root causes of organized crime, striking at its deep-seated origins to ensure enduring community safety and stability. The General highlighted the importance of interagency and interstate cooperation, the integration of military dimensions into #Policing, and the development of interoperability between police forces, military units, and civil society. He stressed the significance of the #RuleofLaw, citing past elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Afghanistan as examples where criminal presence threatened stability. A multifaceted approach is essential in the fight against #TOC, as General De Magistris pointed out, utilizing what he termed “legal weapons” to meet the real needs of local populations. This includes #CommunityOrientedPolicing (#COP), a strategy focused on engaging and collaborating with local communities to prevent and solve crime and social disorder inclusively. The General’s speech, available on YouTube, https://lnkd.in/dRwSgG5j is a beacon and a call for action for those dedicated to enhancing regional security and fostering lasting peace across #Africa. It’s a must-watch for professionals in the security, law enforcement, and geopolitical fields.

#staffrepresentationmatters FICSA - Federation of International Civil Servants' Associations also studies trends such as Artificial Intelligence and its possible effect on the workforce. FICSA partners with academicians and think tanks to study and develop concrete solutions for staff. Thus we don’t just walk the talk we anticipate and actively advocate for a modern workforce. We look into the future of work and ensure that, as rapid changes take place, we also safeguard staff interests. I always say I am BBC - born before computers, however my wealth of experience and technical expertise is still relevant. Thus we say to our employers, do not throw out the baby with the bath water, but nurture and train the staff to pivot in a rapidly changing environment. We would like balance so the life cycle of the younger workforce crosses over with those mid career or about to retire so they cross pollinate and the older staff can mentor and coach while the younger staff challenge the status quo and reinvigorate the workplace. The critical issue is that our employer needs to invest in staff in the same way that the staff invest in the organization.

This #video doesn't need words to explain the horror of the #Bibas family, from Nir Oz on 7.10.23. #watch it #Remember #Demand to set them #free. This was a happy family with a small nice home - See what happened in the house by the #terrorists of #Sinwar the devil. Where is #Shiri the mother? where are the kids #Ariel and #Kfir the baby? Where is #Yarden their father? Where is the United Nations and its Secretary General António Guterres ?why he did not bother to visit them even though he was in #Gaza. Where is the International Committee of the Red Cross - ICRC ? Where is the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ? Where are the #students who care about #humanrights? Where is everybody? Why is there no unequivocal demand to receive from #Hamas information about this family? if it were your children would you also be silent? would you leave them in gaza? https://lnkd.in/dK-V4jyi
