🎄Over the last couple of weeks Atturra have been doing a pre-Christmas pantry drive across all of our Australian offices to support our friends at SecondBite, via our partnership with PonyUp for Good. 🐎 SecondBite is Australia’s largest food rescue organisation, and they deliver food free of charge via food relief agencies across the country. 🥫During the holiday season there is a shortage of staple products on the shelves, so we couldn't be happier to help out! 😀 📦We'll be wrapping up our food drive today, and delivering all of our food boxes before Monday, to ensure these supplies reach those in need. Thanks to all of our staff who contributed to this amazing initiative. We really appreciate your thoughts and generosity. #Atturra #FoodRescue #HolidayHelp #CommunitySupport #SecondBite #FoodCharity

Last week Community Works Works held our Winter Food Network Meeting (with reps from foodbanks across Adur/Worthing). This session was hosted by at one of our member’s premises. The Gateway Hub in Fishersgate Southwick 🥰 Another eventful in-person networking opportunity for members to come together to share experiences and discuss the pressing challenges and indeed opportunities foodbanks are coming across in an environment where cost of living is rising. How do we balance stringent food standards with the urgent need to reduce food waste and support foodbanks meeting rising demand. And how can we empower Foodbanks by creating clearer guidelines for the donation of surplus food and improving logistics to bridge the gap between surplus and scarcity. We had the opportunity to tour their incredible facility including their cafe area. food pantry and storage and their shop ❤️. Of course, it won’t be a food network meeting without food and Jill and team at Gateway Hub delivered exceptionally with a festive spread of yummy nibbles.🥘🍛🥗🍝🧇 A huge thank you to all attending members for their insights and commitment to creating a sustainable food system. Let’s keep the momentum going! 💡 Looking forward to working with these incredible movers and shakers working to support vulnerable families and individuals across the area next year and if you have ideas or initiatives addressing food waste or food insecurity, we would love to connect and learn from you. 🎉 Celebrating 2 Million Meals. Delivered! 🎉 We're thrilled to announce that The FoodDrop Project has officially hit a major milestone: 2 million meals delivered to those in need! Since its launch in early 2023, The FoodDrop Project has worked to redistribute surplus food, providing thousands of nutritious meals daily, thanks to our incredible lead partners at FareShare UK and The Felix Project. Through applying innovative and fresh thinking to existing challenges in food supply, this project overcame significant barriers, integrating resources for efficient food management and utilisation. Supermarkets have long faced inefficiency and high disposal costs for surplus food, while community members were going without essential food. Transporting unused food posed logistical challenges, necessitating a collaborative approach involving supermarkets, logistics companies, charities, and distributors. The FoodDrop Project addresses these challenges by leveraging our various stakeholders' strengths and resources to create an efficient food redistribution system. Our collective vision to redistribute surplus food at a large scale was realised by The Wasu Foundation securing a 20-tonne lorry, enabling the movement of over £10 million worth of food since January 2023. This logistical capability also allowed The Felix Project to scale hot meal production to 3,400 meals daily. Together, we're making a real impact, fighting food insecurity, and strengthening communities. A huge thank you to everyone involved—this achievement wouldn't be possible without you! Here’s to the next million meals. 🌍🍲 #FoodDrop #EndingHunger #CommunityImpact

Many grocery stores face significant challenges in getting surplus food to people who need it. This issue often stems from outdated and ineffective processes that lead to unnecessary waste. A recent viral TikTok video highlighted this problem, showing how Whole Foods allegedly discards large quantities of perfectly good food, none of which was expired. The video sparked outrage, as the TikToker discovered hundreds of loaves of bread and other goods in a single dumpster, all of which could have been donated. This story is a stark reminder that we can—and must—do better. At EETZ Rescue, we know that technology can solve the food waste problem. By modernizing our processes and fostering better partnerships, we can ensure that surplus food reaches those who need it most. Join us in our mission to make a meaningful difference in our communities! #FoodWaste #Sustainability #CommunityImpact #EETZRescue #GroceryStores #ZeroWaste
