Marketers are getting big seasonal moments wrong ❌ The issue? ⏳ They treat seasonal moments as a single “moment” instead of a period of time 🎃 When I was working on the retail team at Google, I saw consumer interest in Halloween decorations start to bubble up in July, and the indexed search volume hit critical mass in mid August, more than 70 days ahead of Halloween. 📈 By the time most brands started investing in media, the only thing left to do was compete on price across buyers with established consideration sets. That’s not a failure, but it doesn’t step-change results. 🌟 The same story plays out across several tent-pole events throughout the year, and it’s not just true in B2C.
