We are off to a strong start in fiscal year 2024. Our Consumer Business Segment achieved double-digit organic sales growth of 10.0% in Q1, generating sales of €2.2 billion. Group sales reached €2.6 billion in the first quarter and were up 7.3% in organic terms. This great result was in particular driven by NIVEA’s sales increase of 12.6% with growth in all regions, especially in Europe and the Emerging Markets. At the same time, our Derma business with our esteemed brands Eucerin and Aquaphor delivered solid double-digit growth. Our luxury brand La Prairie returned to growth in 2024 and is on its way towards the expected full turnaround after a challenging year 2023. tesa recorded an expected slow start to the year, with sales of €397 million and a decline of -5.4% in organic terms. Based on this strong first quarter, we are raising our sales guidance for the full year and are now expecting an organic sales growth of 6-8% for the Group and the Consumer Business Segment. We continued our strong sales growth in the first half of 2024! Our Consumer Business Segment achieved organic sales growth of 8.0% in H1, generating sales of €4.3 billion. Group sales reached €5.2 billion in the first six months of the year and were up 7.1% in organic terms. This strong result was especially driven by broad-based double-digit growth of 11.1% at NIVEA. Our Derma brands Eucerin and Aquaphor recorded organic sales growth of 8.3% in the first six months of the year. These positive results more than offset the recurring headwinds in the volatile luxury market, which were particularly evident in China. tesa returned to growth after an anticipated slow start to the year, with sales of €844 million and an increase of 2.9% in organic terms. Assessing Beiersdorf’s above-market growth in the first half of the year in contrast to the ongoing macroeconomic volatility around the globe, we confirm our sales and EBIT guidance for the full year 2024. Beiersdorf sales increased by 6.5%, led by its skincare brands and a North American rebound, but continued pressure in China limited overall growth. #Nivea maker Beiersdorf reported last week a rise in group organic sales by 6.5% for the first nine months of 2024. Sales in the overall consumer segment rose 7.3% thanks to double-digit growth rates for the #skincare brands Eucerin and Aquaphor in North America and strong Nivea sales in emerging markets. Sales in Beiersdorf’s luxury brand La Prairie Switzerland dropped by 7.3 percent in organic terms in the first three quarters, driven by the continued weakness in China. “We expect strong performance overall in the fourth quarter,” chief executive Vincent Warnery said in a statement, flagging however that the luxury market, especially in China, continues to be challenging. A slowdown in Chinese consumer demand amid a weak economy has hit the #luxury sector, weighing on quarterly sales at French peer L'Oréal and industry bellwether LVMH among others.
