This internally developed custom application utilized the Inventor API and Excel API to automate the generation of dimensioned CAD models and drawings for door frame manufacturing. Key features include: Automated PDF Binder Creation: The application generates comprehensive PDF binders with detailed drawings and bill of materials for manufacturing. Timestamped Event Logs: Detailed logs track each step of the automation process, from creating Excel parameter sheets to setting up folder structures and updating Inventor files, ensuring traceability and accountability in the workflow. CAD Automation: Integrated with Autodesk Inventor to calculate and apply custom configurations, such as hinge placements, frame types, and finishes, streamlining the creation of 3D models and drawings. The system successfully reduced manual efforts, ensuring precision and speed in fulfilling custom door frame orders.

🎉 Excited to share that I have completed the Onshape Bootcamp and earned a certificate in this innovative cloud-native CAD and PDM platform! Onshape combines CAD and PDM in a seamless, cloud-based environment, streamlining design and product development. Throughout the bootcamp, I explored several features that set Onshape apart, with Branching and Merging being one of the most impactful. This tool allows teams to develop different design ideas simultaneously and merge the best elements into a single version, enhancing creativity and collaboration. I also found Direct Editing invaluable, which enables easy modifications to imported parts, like rotating or moving holes, without the need to redesign from scratch. What makes Onshape truly powerful is its built-in PDM, which automatically tracks every design change, maintains a complete revision history, and ensures data is always up to date and securely accessible to the entire team. This eliminates manual file management, reduces the risk of data loss, and allows engineers to focus on innovation. It also offers controlled access for external partners, such as manufacturers, who can view and measure designs without making edits, streamlining collaboration across the supply chain. Combined with my existing skills in SolidWorks, I’m now equipped with versatile CAD expertise that supports agile development and enhances teamwork. I’m already applying these skills by contributing to the advancement of non-contact optical devices for diagnosing and monitoring diseases, driving innovation in the field.
