WHY VIETNAM IS THE NEXT HEALTHCARE FRONTIER FOR THOMSON MEDICAL GROUP According to Dr. Melvin Heng, group CEO of Thomson Medical Group, Thomson Medical Group is drawn to Vietnam's healthcare landscape for several strategic reasons as follow 1️⃣ Vietnam's proximity to Singapore and its significant market potential make it a prime location for Thomson Medical Group's regional expansion plans. This expansion is further bolstered by the acquisition of FV Hospital, which solidifies the Group's presence in Southeast Asia and strengthens its position as a regional healthcare leader. 2️⃣ Vietnam's robust economic growth in recent years has resulted in a burgeoning middle class and increased healthcare spending. This growth translates to a surge in demand for high-quality healthcare services, driven by a large and youthful population, an aging demographic, and a growing expatriate community. These factors, coupled with substantial foreign direct investment, contribute to a fertile environment for healthcare providers like Thomson Medical Group. 3️⃣ Vietnam's emergence as a medical tourism hub presents another significant opportunity. Attracting patients from neighboring countries like Myanmar, Laos, and Cambodia seeking various medical treatments, this trend allows healthcare companies like Thomson Medical Group to tap into the lucrative medical tourism market by providing specialized services to international patients. 4️⃣ The dynamic and rapidly evolving nature of Vietnam's healthcare landscape, compared to more mature markets, offers unparalleled opportunities for growth and innovation. This allows Thomson Medical Group to not only meet the increasing demand for high-quality healthcare services but also contribute meaningfully to the country's healthcare development in the future. source: Viet Nam Investment Review #healthcare #medicaldevice #Vietnamhealthcare #Viettradelink

It's indeed commendable that the T&CM Division, Ministry of Health Malaysia, has been recognised as a WHO Collaborating Centre (WHOCC) for Traditional, Complementary, and Integrative Medicine since 2020. This designation not only reflects Malaysia's commitment to holistic healthcare practices but also aligns with the World Health Organization's (WHO) global health priorities. The rigorous evaluation process and the necessity for alignment underscore the seriousness and dedication required to achieve such a status. However, as we laud these milestones, it's crucial to reflect on the essence of 'awareness' in the realm of healthcare, particularly in areas as pivotal as Traditional, Complementary, and Integrative Medicine. There still seems to be a discernible gap between the intent and actionable outcomes. Awareness, in its most effective form, should transcend beyond seminars, conferences, and discussions that often preach to the converted. The real challenge lies not just in acknowledging the existence of such centres and their achievements but in integrating this knowledge into practical, everyday applications that benefit the wider community. Engaging the public, policymakers, and healthcare professionals in meaningful dialogue and education about the benefits and practices of traditional, complementary, and integrative medicine is essential. This engagement should not be confined to academic or professional circles but should extend into community outreach programmes, school curriculums, and public health initiatives. It's about making this knowledge accessible and relevant to the average Malaysian, thereby truly raising awareness in a manner that encourages informed health choices and fosters a holistic understanding of well-being. As practitioners and advocates within this field, we are tasked with not only celebrating our milestones but also bridging the gap between theoretical awareness and practical application. Let us endeavour to create platforms and initiatives that demystify traditional medicine, promote its integration into mainstream healthcare, and actively contribute to the well-being of our communities. By doing so, we not only honour the spirit of the WHOCC's mission but also empower our society to embrace a more inclusive approach to health and wellness.

VIETNAM AIMS TO BECOME THE HEALTHCARE HUB OF THE ASEAN REGION 🇻🇳 Aging population, growing middle class, increasing burden of chronic diseases, plus the fact that Vietnamese people spend about 2 billion dollars each year on healthcare abroad, have made the Vietnamese healthcare sector urgently "think of ways" to improve the quality of medical examination and treatment, meet the needs of the people and attract this money back to Vietnam, aiming to become the healthcare hub of the ASEAN region. 🇻🇳 The proposed solutions are: training high-quality medical human resources, investing in good infrastructure, developing specialized healthcare, medical tourism combining modern medicine and traditional medicine, promoting digital transformation, research, development, innovation, simplifying administrative procedures related to medical examination and treatment activities, competitive medical costs, etc. 🇻🇳 In addition, the Government is encouraging public hospitals as well as private hospitals develop into specialized medical centers, including hospitals that are on par with the region and the world. The Ministry of Health has developed a project "High-quality medical examination and treatment to attract foreigners and those who can afford medical examination and treatment in Vietnam". According to this project, the domestic medical system will serve many subjects. Source: Tuoi Tre Online #healthcare #medicaldevice #Vietnamhealthcare #Viettradelink

RE-START! This word perfectly describes the spirit of the meeting with Vietnam's Vice Minister of Health, Ms. Nguyễn Thị Liên Hương, as Sweden and Vietnam celebrate 55 years of diplomatic relations. Healthcare has been a cornerstone of this partnership, initially driven by Sida – Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency. Key milestones include the construction of Uong Bi Hospital in Quang Ninh and Vietnam National Children's Hospital in Hanoi during the 1970s. In recent years, collaboration between Sweden and Vietnam in healthcare has been largely limited to research and medical education exchanges. However, both nations recognize the immense potential to renew and expand this partnership in healthcare and life sciences. With Vietnam's population of 100 million, annual GDP growth rate of approx. 7%, and healthcare expenditure nearing USD 30 billion, the country is a pivotal market for Swedish healthcare and life science companies in Southeast Asia. Key drivers for healthcare investment in Vietnam include an aging population, rising non-communicable diseases (accounting for 74% of deaths), a critical need to expand healthcare infrastructure, heavy reliance on imported medical equipment (roughly 90%), and a rapidly growing middle class, projected to make up 20% of the population by 2030. During our meeting with Viet Nam Ministry of Health Office this week, we reaffirmed a shared commitment to long-term collaboration and agreed to establish a #SwedenVietnamHealthAlliance. In the coming weeks, we will focus on defining detailed objectives and initiatives for this partnership. With the strong support of industry leaders AstraZeneca, Getinge, and Elekta, we aim to spearhead the re-launch of the Swedish-Vietnamese partnership in healthcare and life sciences starting 2025. Many exciting developments to look forward to! Dream Team behind the scenes: Johan Ndisi, Atul Tandon, Nguyen Phong, Teodor Johansson, Nam Hoang, Marcus Persson, Uyen Dam, Huyen Quan
