As promised, here are the 10 recommendations for all of my AI Risk Management enthusiasts that want to be leaders in red teaming and get their projects beyond proof of concept. Generative AI risk should be comprehensively identified and mapped. Red-teaming guidelines could provide enhanced practical support. Enterprise-level metrics enable organisations to consistently assess quality and success in red-teaming efforts. Case studies and best practices on AI red-teaming are valuable. Encourage the creation and provision of open source tools and techniques that enable efficient AI red-teaming. Lead on the development of interoperable risk management frameworks. Importance of guidance on definition and prioritisation of generative AI risks. Documentation should be standardised and specific to different actors in the AI value chain.  Companies are not clear on the best benchmarks and metrics to use for synthetic content detection, labeling or removal. Help needed to identify best tooling options for managing synthetic content risks. More details on each of the above recommendations can be found on page 9-11 in the report below. "Confabulation" - ...is a word that (to my mind) sounds like it belongs in the world of Mary Poppins - easily deserving a song of its own. It is however one of twelve risks set out in NIST's Artificial Intelligence Risk Management Framework - a draft of which was released last month. So that you can use it in conversation going forwards - "Confabulation" is "the production of confidently stated but erroneous or false content -known colloquially as hallucinations or fabrications" - (and is a reason why you need to check AI outputs). The Framework is well worth a read if you're putting together your own AI policy as it sets out various steps to avoid the risks that it identifies.
