I finally received the call!!! After 5.5 months of having a vehicle in the shop, it was ready to return home! Let me preface this by saying, the absence of this vehicle has strained many aspects of my family’s day-to-day life, including rentals along the way. HOWEVER, I believe there is a lesson in every day and in every situation we face as humans. What was my lesson? Was it patience? No. — I learned patience as a young child knowing that eventually there would be another meal even if the fridge and pantry was bare. Was it to persevere to get the job done? No. — I learned perseverance as a teenager who recognized that it was my responsibility to make myself into someone I would be proud to know. That meant persevering through the life I was given and making a life for the family I hoped to have one day. Was it resiliency in dealing with the auto shop and the warranty company? No. — I learned throughout my life that I am only in control of myself. The auto shop and the warranty company are only in control of themselves, and processes take time. So, what did I learn? When I walked in to pay my deductible, the Service Manager assigned to my case since Day 1 said, “Oh no, I got that covered for you. Here’s your key.” I learned that my ability to create a human connection and build relationships goes FAR BEYOND my career in Healthcare and Medical Affairs. Our weekly texts and bi-monthly phone calls built a relationship in which she knew her worth and understood my appreciation for her role in this situation. I did not expect to walk out of this experience without a financial hit, but I am pleased to know I’ve driven out of it with a new friend and connection. #neverunderestimateaconnection #healthcare #medicalaffairs #humanity
