Product selection should be determined by a site specific RAMS and this will lay out every detail of what's required, only then will you be able to make sure that what your are selecting is truly fit for purpose. So, many view the RAMS as what is written after the job has been won and then formed around the equipment that is already owned or been used before in the past. This can cause massive issues which may not be realised until something goes wrong. Things like rescue can often be overlooked, where as it may be far better to work backwards from requiring a rescue to performing the task as this ensures equipment harmony and safe operation. This will emphasise issues like needing to use the secondary system if the primary fails and that may show that operating this piece of equipment is almost impossible if it's location is on the other side of the davit when rotation is required. Or it could be something like the davit needs rotation when entering or exiting so the wire doesn't run at angles over the main roller, this introduces cutting hazards to the wire in the event of a fall. If these things are making you question what you are doing, that's great because the better the RAMS are written the more likely it is that everything will go smoothly, even if an incident takes place. We offer numerous systems for hire and sale and this allows us to demonstrate the advantages of one product over another like with these 2 corner davit systems that could at first glance look very similar. Both may be suitable for an application if you only have an NC2 entry requirement and are unlikely to actually ever need to perform a genuine rescue. But if you require personnel entry using a primary and secondary device, then the Genesi davit (Blue), allows a for both of these devices to be attached on the top of the davit arm as the head wheel is made for 2 ropes to pass over it. The corner system itself, uses to legs that are free standing and lower to the floor and because there is no safety barrier then rescue can be performed easily by pulling the casualty in from either side. But if your set up requires entry using a ladder with the davit only needing the attachment of a fall arrest retrieve block and requires a safety barrier then the Xtirpa system (Yellow) could be used although to conduct an actual rescue is still very problematic. This is why we will always look at developing a RAMS with you that is fit for purpose and look into every aspect of how you need to gain entry, work and provide you're rescue solution. This may mean that you require a combination of different manufacturers products to get a perfect solution and that's why we offer so many.
