At the virtual #PublicSectorEconomics presentation, Tatjana Stanimirović (Faculty of Public Administration, Ljubljana) and Philumena Bauer (Institute of Management Accounting, Johannes Kepler University Linz) presented the article on the quality of sustainability reports of state-owned enterprises in Austria and Slovenia.   The analysis shows that Austrian state-owned enterprises slightly outperform their Slovenian counterparts in their sustainability reporting.   Despite improvements in both countries, compliance with Global Reporting Initiative standards remains below 50%, indicating a limited readiness for the expanded reporting scope required by the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive and EU Taxonomy criteria.   Full recording available 👇 https://lnkd.in/diJy2qp3 #sustainabilityreport #SDG #publicvalue #Slovenia #Austria

The International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) and AICPA & CIMA have released their fourth annual benchmarking study of global practice in sustainability disclosure and its assurance. The report titled 'State of Play: Sustainability Disclosure and Assurance' analyzes disclosure trends from 1,400 companies across 22 jurisdictions from 2019-2022. Key findings include: ⏩ Almost all companies (98%) report some information on sustainability, representing an increase from 91% in 2019, when IFAC and AICPA & CIMA first began conducting this research. ⏩ Only 30% of companies used a standalone sustainability report in 2022, suggesting that companies are increasingly including this information in their annual or integrated reports. ⏩ 69% of companies obtained assurance on at least of their sustainability disclosures, representing an increase of five percentage points from last year and 18 percentage points from 2019. 🔢 49,000 companies, 700 listed SMEs and nearly all SMEs across Europe will be impacted by new corporate sustainability reporting. 👩🏭 ⁉ Thus a timely question: How will the upcoming corporate sustainability standards address the increasing requests for sustainability data that SMEs are receiving from business partners and private investors?   Last week, EFRAG and Orgalim members tried to unpack new reporting obligations and standards under the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive. sustainability is a crucial role in accounting my key take away from the first speaker(Rabecca Hichilo Silolezya ) at the zica conference was the the FIVE MEGA TRENDS CREATING ISSUES FOR HUMANITY...Technological disruption as an example.
