I am sharing a story of one of my clients, who isn’t a fan of gym workouts or weight training, so I recommended a simple treadmill routine. Franco just wrapped up his gym session and wanted to share his pre and post-workout routine. He starts by "bracketing" his workout with protein for optimal muscle support. Before hitting the gym, he mixes whey protein isolate/concentrate in water, keeping it light with just half a scoop, providing about 15 to 20 grams of protein to maintain a low glycemic index while still fueling his muscles. After his intense workout, approximately an hour and a half later, Franco brackets his session again with another protein intake. This time, he opts for a more substantial protein serving of around 45 to 55 grams using whey protein to aid in muscle recovery and growth. Of course, protein amounts can vary depending on fitness goals and body size. For individuals aiming for increased muscle mass, adjusting protein intake to 30 to 40 grams before the workout and 60 to 65 grams afterward may be more suitable.
