Joining hands with India in Gender Equality in STEM! Today, we arranged SheSTEM! SheSTEM is an annual activity at the Embassy of Sweden and this year we collaborated with our Nordic friends Norway, Finland, and Denmark together with Indian organization Atal Innovation Mission to promote STEM to young women. We did three things: 1. We invited four successful Indian women to share their experiences and knowledge about STEM and how it is to work within STEM. They shared interesting initiatives, achievements, and ongoing challenges in integrating young women into the workforce, and to promote STEM as a field of study. We had students and teachers listening in the audience. The topic is very import - Women in STEM still (globally) face wage gaps and under-representation in leadership positions. 2. This year SheSTEM was part of another Nordic joint activity promoting Battery Energy Storage as a field of study, research, and business where Nordic-India can benefit from collaborating. The gathering today was therefore also an opportunity to celebrate and award the winners of a nation-wide competition we did within the Nordic project where young students were to pitch ideas within the field of energy storage that would be of future global benefit. We received more than one thousand contributions from different student groups from all over India in this competition! 3. We also had a fika! The Nordics love the combination of coffee and buns! 😊 I believe that gender equality needs a holistic approach, which combines government policy, educational reform, corporate responsibility, and cultural change. Achieving equality requires systemic change, persistence, and collective effort. Let us continue to challenge norms, support one another, and dismantle the barriers that hold back half of humanity's potential! This week, the 8th of March marks International Women's Day 🙋♀️ We celebrate this day as a recognition of all the women who have paved the way and to encourage future generations to have a more equal future. We as T&O are committed to gender equality. Four years ago, we launched the Women in Tech initiative, and since then we have developed different actions focused on changing the existing stereotypes in the STEM sector. 👩💻 Only 1 in 4 positions in the tech sector is held by a woman and this figure has remained stable for more than 10 years.* Data from Esade recent "Women in STEM" study in collab with #Santander. Title: Breaking Barriers: Addressing Gender Inequality in Today's World In the ongoing pursuit of equality, gender inequality remains a significant barrier across the globe. Despite strides made in recent decades, disparities persist in various aspects of life, including education, employment, politics, and social norms. Addressing these inequalities is not only a matter of justice but also essential for fostering inclusive and thriving societies. One of the fundamental pillars in the fight against gender inequality is education. Access to quality education for all, regardless of gender, is crucial in empowering individuals and breaking the cycle of inequality. However, in many parts of the world, girls still face barriers to education, including cultural norms, poverty, and lack of resources. By ensuring equal access to education and promoting girls' enrollment and retention, societies can unlock the full potential of their female population.Gender disparities in the workforce are another critical issue. Women continue to face wage gaps, limited opportunities for career advancement, and discrimination based on gender stereotypes. Breaking down these barriers requires not only legislative measures but also changes in workplace cultures and attitudes. Employers must implement policies that promote gender equality, such as pay transparency, parental leave, and flexible working arrangements, to create environments where all employees can thrive.Women's representation in politics remains disproportionately low compared to men. Despite comprising half of the global population, women hold less than a quarter of parliamentary seats worldwide. Increasing women's participation in decision-making processes is essential for ensuring that diverse perspectives are represented and that policies address the needs of all citizens. Initiatives such as quotas and affirmative action can help level the playing field and encourage more women to enter politics.Deep-rooted gender norms and stereotypes continue to perpetuate inequality and restrict opportunities for both women and men. From childhood, individuals are socialized into roles and behaviors based on their gender, limiting their potential and perpetuating harmful attitudes and practices. Challenging these norms requires a multi-faceted approach, including education, media representation, and community engagement. By promoting gender equality at all levels of society, we can create a more inclusive and equitable world for future generations. #talentserve #internship #edtech
