One important step for Volvo and for our customers who wants to pave the road for a more safe and sustainable future.
Breakthrough: Volvo Trucks will launch a long-range version of the Volvo FH Electric with 600 km range. The enabler for the 600 km range is a new driveline technology, the so-called e-axle, which creates space for significantly more battery capacity onboard. More efficient batteries, a further improved battery management system and overall efficiency of the powertrain also contribute to the extended range. “Our new electric flagship will be a great complement to our wide range of electric trucks and enable zero-exhaust emission transport also for the longer distances. It will be a great solution for transport companies with a high annual mileage on their trucks and with a strong commitment to reduce CO2,” says Roger Alm, President Volvo Trucks.

What do you think about our vision of the trends in the trucking industry and KDRIVE answer? The trucking industry is undergoing a significant transformation driven by several key trends. First, there is an increasing push towards sustainability, with stricter environmental regulations and a growing emphasis on reducing carbon emissions. The demand for zero-emission vehicles is rising, but the high cost and limited range of new electric and hydrogen trucks are significant challenges for many fleet operators. Another trend is the need for technological innovation to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs. Fleet operators are looking for solutions that not only comply with environmental standards but also enhance the performance and reliability of their trucks. KDRIVE.tech is perfectly positioned to take advantage of these trends. Our retrofit solution allows existing diesel trucks to be converted into cleaner, more efficient vehicles without the need for a complete fleet overhaul. This approach offers a cost-effective and immediate solution to the challenges posed by new regulations, making it easier for fleet operators to transition to greener operations. Additionally, by integrating advanced AI software into our system, we’re not just offering a retrofit but a smarter, more efficient way to operate trucks. This positions KDRIVE.tech as a leader in delivering both environmental and operational benefits, allowing our customers to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving industry.

First tests of electric long-haul transports underway within E-Charge! After preparations, technological development, and research, DB Schenker and Scania Group are now starting the demonstration of a fully electric heavy truck in regular traffic between Jönköping and Södertälje. This is the first logistics flow within the E-Charge project, where electrified long-distance truck transports will be showcased. "For DB Schenker, the purpose is to test and gain experience with fully electric heavy vehicles in long-distance traffic. Electrification of heavy vehicles plays a crucial role in our transition to carbon-neutral transportation, and since heavy traffic accounts for the largest emissions for us, it is incredibly important," says Anna Hagberg, Head of Network & Linehaul at DB Schenker and continues: "It will be incredibly exciting and interesting to learn from this pilot project. In addition to making a significant CO2 saving, it will be exciting to see how the driver's everyday life changes," concludes Anna Hagberg. Also for Scania, reducing emissions from long-distance transports is crucial, and they are delighted with the development. "The vehicle is Scania's first long-haul battery-electric vehicle with this capacity. I am very pleased that we are now able to start testing with our first customers," says David Gotthardsson, Concept Leader at Scania Pilot Partner. "The E-Charge project gives us a unique opportunity to collaborate with other stakeholders, to test and learn together. Together with DB Schenker, we are now testing solutions in real operations," says Tony Sandberg, Vice President Scania Pilot Partner. 💡🚛 🔋 Read more about it here: https://lnkd.in/d9YJQXEp E-Charge brings together participants from vehicle manufacturers, fuel companies, research, and electric grid companies to collaboratively drive the electrification of heavy, long-haul truck transportation. In a system demonstration, various logistics flows will be electrified, with several of them utilizing megawatt charging (MCS). This technology will enable driving for 4.5 hours, charging for 45 minutes, and then driving for another 4.5 hours. Battery reuse is crucial for climate action! 🌱 By establishing battery repair centers across Europe, MAN Truck & Bus is making a pivotal contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting sustainable mobility. MAN's ambitious plans include the establishment of repair centers in several European countries over the next two years, with centers already in operation in Germany and Spain. MAN is the consortium leader and application partner in the #REVAMP project. The aim of REVAMP is to automate the process of assessing the condition of used vehicle batteries. With this knowledge, batteries are to be economically remanufactured so that they can then be used in the vehicle (2nd use) or for another purpose (2nd life). This is how I believe the transition will happen in the transportation sector: one route at a time; quietly; and in the transportation-as-a-service space. Electric transportation is on the verge of being cheaper by the mile, so it makes sense that companies will sell the whole package rather than the pieces individually…
