Being a freelancer can be rewarding, but it also comes with challenges. One of the biggest is client expectations around pricing. This screenshot shows one of my clients asking me to complete a large project (4 posts per day) for a meager price ($220). This kind of request can discourage freelancers, as it undervalues their expertise and time. Here are some of the pitfalls of undervalued freelance work: Low-quality work: When freelancers are pressured to accept low rates, they may be more likely to rush through projects or sacrifice quality. Burnout: Feeling undervalued can lead to burnout, especially for freelancers who are already juggling multiple projects. Unsustainable rates: If freelancers consistently accept low rates, it can be difficult to make a living wage. Finding the Right Value Freelance platforms can be a great way to find work. But it's important to know your worth and set prices that reflect your experience and skills. Clients who value quality work will be happy to pay a fair rate. Have you ever encountered a client who tried to lowball you? Share your thoughts in the comments below! #freelance #freelancing #linkedincontent #linkedinmanager #entrepreneur

Freelancers, here's 5 things you NEED to do with a £0 month Number 1 is the best... 🐈 1. Cuddle your cat co-worker and tell them you love them (even if they are not very productive...) 2. EMBRACE IT 3. Develop your skills 4. Work on that passion project 5. Schedule in a £0 month once per year It all sounds lovely right, but you're probably thinking: "This is terrible advice, I should spend every minute searching for work" Yes, you should also spend a bit of time on client search duties BUT When all you do is look for clients and do client work, you aren't: - Developing your skills - Growing your business - Taking meaningful time to be truly creative - Evaluating / strategising on where you are and where you want to go - Truly enjoying the freedom of freelancing It's common for Freelancers take the month of August off. Either just as a pure vacation or to spend time working ON their business, instead of IN their business. Is this something you would do? Anything else people should do with that dreaded £0 month? ...................... Want more #freelance content? Freelancers work for free That's what I thought many years ago. (Psst...it's not just me right!!!!? 😅 ) When I tell people(especially family and close circle) that I'm a freelancer...they often react like "What...Huh?"....So I just say I work online on different projects. Even it took some time for me to understand freelancing and I am still learning about it. It taught me 🐣 to figure out what people really want. 🐣 to involve and see things from client's POV. 🐣 to upskill and monetize 🐣 to plan and be my own boss 🐣 to manage time and multitask 🐣 to market myself 🐣 to learn from experts through networking Ykw.....It took 4 different jobs for me to land as a freelancer. And now I am in a happy place. Hope you all are enjoying what you do... if not work on it....Find joy and purpose. Cheers ☕ PS: I am opening 1:1 video calls for new freelancers who need some insights into this side of the world. So if you are interested book a call with me for FREE. See ya 👋

Want to become a freelancer? 🚀 You might have all the skills, experience, and passion to kickstart your freelancing journey. But there's one critical element you can't afford to overlook: PATIENCE! Without it, your journey might be shorter than you think. Here's why you must be ready to take things slow and be patient while freelancing: 1. Client Acquisition: Finding and securing clients often takes time( Months Even). Freelancers must be patient as they build their portfolio, establish their reputation, and network to attract new clients. 2. Project Timelines: Projects can have long timelines, and freelancers need to wait for client feedback, approvals, and payments. This can be especially challenging when working with multiple clients who have varying schedules and expectations. 3. Revisions and Feedback: Clients often request revisions, which can extend project timelines. Patience is essential to handle feedback constructively and make necessary adjustments. 4. Payment Delays: Freelancers frequently face delays in payments, requiring patience and effective financial management to sustain their business during these periods. 5. Skill Development: Continuous learning and skill development are crucial for freelancers to stay competitive. This process requires patience as they invest time in gaining new knowledge and refining their expertise. Patience is your secret weapon to weather the highs and lows, build a solid client base, and see your hard work pay off. Ready to embrace the freelance life? I failed terribly in my first month of being a freelancer. Here are 3 mistakes I would want new freelancers to avoid: Mistake #1: Underpriced myself Being a beginner, I said "yes" to projects way below my worth, leaving me overworked and underpaid. Tip for you: -> Research your industry's freelance rates. -> Don't be afraid to negotiate – your time and expertise deserve fair compensation! Mistake #2: Overpromised, under delivered - My enthusiasm as a new freelancer morphed into overcommitment. - I took on too many projects at once. Resulting in certain issues. Tip for you: Be honest about your work you can deliver. Mistake #3: The Solopreneur Slog Working from home can be isolating. I neglected to build a support network, leading to burnout and a dip in motivation. Tip for you: -> Connect with other freelancers! Join online communities, attend networking events. -> Surround yourself with people who understand the joys and challenges of freelance life. Freelancing is a constant learning experience. These mistakes were my (expensive) lessons. But by implementing these tips, I built a thriving freelance business. What are some common freelance mistakes you've witnessed (or made yourself)? The BMB of successful freelancers Every struggling freelancer needs to work on 3 things Body Mind Business Let’s look at each Body You need your body to do the freelance work. It would help if you took good care of it. Avoid energy-suckers like sugar and foods that are not real food. Embrace exercise to encourage proper mental and circulatory health. Sleep until you are well rested. Forget 8 hours. We are all different. Find what works best for you. Mind You’ve got to feed your mind for it to produce meaningful work. Embrace reading as if your life depends on it. Be curious about things that can make you a better person. Your market value depends on the problems you can solve for people. You need to know stuff either through reading or experience. (I prefer reading.) Business You are healthy, full of energy, and can solve problems. It's time to bring them together to create a business. Your freelance business is not the services you provide. It is the problems you solve. Many people do what you do. Do not think in terms of service. Think in terms of the pain your clients are trying to stop. Your business is the enabler. It is the bridge between your clients and what they want. Your solution should: - Save them time - Save them money - Deliver more than promised That’s the BMB of a successful freelancer. P.S. Which one have you neglected?
