💡 The pristine fountain of human knowledge and wisdom is being tainted by the influence of AI. 💡 With the increasing use of synthetic data in Large Language Models (LLMs), the results are likely to get even more murky. The article by Noam Chomsky, below, highlights the inherent flaws in our current AI models. Any contrary views are appreciated, especially if anyone can point out recent advancements that can overcome these flaws. https://lnkd.in/gXS2YXvg

Large Language Models (LLMs) are the innovative technology that powers Generative AI as we know it. But that's not all. Diffusion Models are incredibly important in GenAI. I don't hear them talked about so much at work. Why? Probably because of the type of output they specialize in generating - audio and video. Output generated from Diffusion Models are a huge enabler for the video I'm sharing with you. Fundamentally, this video provides a simple and informative high-level explanation of Large Language Models (LLMs) that uses everyday analogies in plain English. It's really helpful! The overview is delivered by popular movie star, Ryan Gosling. Not really. https://lnkd.in/ghY_GZc8

I just witnessed the future that OpenAI is shaping for us, and it is truly remarkable! 🌟 See the video https://lnkd.in/gJVERxwM Attending the AI Engineer's World Fair conference, I had the privilege of watching Romain Huet from OpenAI showcase a groundbreaking demonstration. In the video attached, he engaged in a video call with ChatGPT(Next?), where he shared his screen and ChatGPT provided insightful comments on the screen his was sharing, his appearance, had a fun conversation, and then assisted in solving a complex issue based on what was being shared in the screen share. Probably better than most humans. The Turing Test might no longer be the benchmark for Artificial General Intelligence, as we have now set the bar higher, however witnessing this demonstration felt like a glimpse into the realm of Artificial General Intelligence. Just wow! 🤯 #OpenAI #AI #ArtificialIntelligence #AGI #Innovation #Technology #FutureOfWork #cuttingedge ADAPTOVATE Enterprise AI Group GADALI Group

It is quite fascinating to see the capabilities of Large Language Models being explored in the context of logical reasoning - given that, this video may be the best 100 minutes you spend this month. My Ph.D. advisor, Prof. Subbarao Kambhampati, has argued via his more recent work that while LLMs excel at creative tasks, their ability to reason logically is fundamentally limited today. This is a critical distinction, and I think it is worth highlighting why. Video Link: https://lnkd.in/gwhmFn8F One of the starkest examples demonstrating these limitations is the so-called "Sussman Anomaly." This is a simple puzzle that involves rearranging blocks to form a specific configuration. It is a problem that is remarkably easy for a human to solve, yet even the most advanced LLMs will stumble on some suitably scaled and changed version of a problem like this. (Why changed, you ask? Because LLMs will memorize everything that is on the internet about the Sussman Anomaly, including its name and solution - and regurgitate answers that were posted by humans or symbolic AI solvers) The anomaly stems from the fact that today's LLMs are essentially statistical models, excelling at identifying patterns and generating text that resembles human language. They lack the ability to construct coherent logical arguments and reason through the steps necessary to solve a problem. This is where the need for hybrid approaches arises. We need to combine the power of LLMs with external verification systems that can evaluate the logical soundness of their outputs. This is analogous to incorporating human intelligence into the equation, allowing us to leverage the strengths of both systems. As researchers, it is important to acknowledge that LLMs are powerful tools, but we must be aware of their limitations and explore methods to address them. By integrating these verification mechanisms, we can unlock a new level of robustness and reliability in AI systems, making them more suitable for tasks requiring logical reasoning and planning. This is an excellent, long talk on the Machine Learning Street Talk (MLST) series that is well worth the 100 minutes of your time.

Anyone who keeps talking flake about #LLMs needs to watch this. And I believe that especially on LinkedIn everyone needs to watch this, there is so much BS and myths regarding LLMs on LinkedIn. I love Rao's work and have written many blogs inspired by his papers. #AI #LLM #LLMs #GPT #ArtificialIntelligence #DeepLearning #Machinelearning #ML #DL #DataScience #DataScientists https://lnkd.in/eVhup52d

Having played with some of these mechanisms for a few years now and experimenting with various algorithms, the below is a great explain. Also shows how quickly the technology is moving, deep fake gosling shows how realistic it all is and the amount of challenges security professionals in the future face. Reminds me of stallones judge dredd and the photo manipulations.
If you're curious what the "generative AI hype" is all about this short video by deep-fake Ryan Gosling 😂 is perfect for you. It does a good job explaining basics including a high level explanation of how LLMs actually work in layman's terms.
