I *finally* hired a marketing leader. 🎉 I waited too long — I took “founder mode” way too far. Basically tried doing 5 jobs. 🤦♂️ This is not the intent of founder mode, but it’s a classic founder mistake. Yesterday Eric Linssen started. It’s a breath of fresh air to have him on the team. I consider myself a marketing-centric CEO and I’m beyond excited to have a partner in the story telling, audience building, and growth execution that I believe is increasingly important today. In the early 2020s SaaS marketers could get by with "spray and pray." Now buyers have raised the bar. As buyer rigor returns, great products with “good enough” sales & marketing will no longer thrive. Winning now requires GTM excellence. I believe ICP Marketing is the key. At Keyplay, we're on a mission to help our customers succeed with an ICP-first methodology. With Eric onboard we can turn up the volume on that mission. And he'll be building our own ICP Marketing playbook -- practicing what we preach. I'm pro founder mode. But I also know that we need a great team. Before we launch this on the job boards, I wanted to share here that we are hiring 2 more Account Executives in our office in Hudson Yards, based in NYC. Some details: We hired our first 2 NYC based AEs in June/July and the office is taking off since then, with more customer support and colleagues from Copenhagen moving here. My experience of the company so far having helped scale 4 organizations from $1-5MM to $25MM+ in past lives: - Dreamdata is on the same path. We're thriving in a tough software sales environment - it's not 2021 anymore - but our platform shows strong ROI for our customers and that's why we make it through CFO scrutiny. - We have one of the most capable engineering and data teams I've encountered. Our VP of Data Science has a PhD. Smart dude. In B2B marketing attribution, especially with how our platform automates workflows, a dedication to accurate data, trustworthy, smart reporting and working integrations is absolutely critical for our customers' success. - I can also say hands down the usage I see from our customers is phenomenal and I've never seen it this high at other companies. You can't fake 97% of our paying customers active at least weekly w/ an average of 6 Weekly Active Users/Account. That is next level value. All we need is more capable salespeople so we can tell more people about what we've built here. On the office front: We're on the Hudson River in Hudson Yards. It's beautiful and we're in an Industrious space with a lot of perks - daily breakfast, snacks, espresso (Alberto Possagno 🙂), happy hours. You can't fix a fundamental problem by hiring someone. Hiring an AE doesn't guarantee you more revenue. Hiring a demand-gen marketer doesn't guarantee you more leads.
