I have been working in the sports technology space(past 6 years) to deepen reach in Africa(outside South Africa & North Africa) and enable elite athletes and top team sport disciplines to access state-of-the-art solutions. With desire and zeal to expand into fitness, health, strength & conditioning solutions area, I fortuitously came across a LinkedIn post on experiential use of VALD Performance suite of solutions in late 2021. It was posted by a mutual connection based in Canada and working at VALD Performance. As expected I became more curious and immediately visited VALD website. Therein I had a WOW-Effect ! The solutions therein were quite complementary to what I was already doing in and around sports tech... This offered me a rich opportunity to learn and grow understanding of human measurement technologies relevant for both pre-season and in-season training in the realm of strength & conditioning in particular. Football, Rugby and Track & Field(Athletics) are quite popular in most parts of Africa and would embrace these, with good planning and budgetary allocation. The immediate and next step was to follow all VALD entities on LinkedIn to gain as much knowledge as possible from practitioners across the world. These were largely sport scientists, whom I organically requested a connection to widen and deepen my knowledge resource pool. Thereafter, I was extremely keen to know the global footprint of this behemoth of a specialist sports-tech software company. As expected, there is quite a good population in Australia(origin of founder) , North America , Europe, China & SE Asia and the Middle-East. Africa was sparsely populated with some representation of active users in South Africa and North Africa. I then searched and requested a connection with the region's representative Andrew Robert Howitt . This morphed into an opportunity to learn.., plus request if I could play some role to enhance footprint in East & Central Africa and parts of West Africa. We established extremely good rapport and professionalism given converged interest in sports technology solutions. The rest is indeed history ! We have since made progress by sharing local knowledge with him about the above mentioned areas of Africa, while he invited me to presentations to prospect clients and gain better understanding on VALD Performance solutions. Most importantly, I recently assisted close business with a top football club in East Africa 👊.We are have advanced talks anothers in Tanzania, Kenya, Nigeria and others...This is in addittion to respective National Olympic Committees that have various sports affiliates with need and desire to improve performances at elite level. Dynamo which is core to VALD Health is also gaining immense interest among physiotherapy practitioners in Kenya. Talks are underway with Kenya Society of Physiotherapists to enable more members understand and use DynaMo in their practice. VALD is positioning well to reach more in Africa !

I attended EntreFEST last week and as I reflect on the various presentations, I wanted to share a few of the takeaways that stuck with me. - Outsource the things that you don't love to do, and the things that will prevent you from scaling - Some questions are irrelevant (not stupid, but off track for your purpose) Improv can improve teamwork- trust is needed and it is fun! - There are no mistakes, only opportunities - Businesses should have a purpose (Mission Statement, Core Values, and Vision). People should also have a purpose and they are not necessarily tied to each other - Give people ownership to help unlock their potential Mike and I also presented a talk on how “Not Every Company Needs to be a Tech Company”! We were very excited about the response we received and I thought I could share a few takeaways from our presentation as well. - Your core purpose is the most important. You use technology to enable your purpose, service, or product. Therefore, every company is a "technology-enabled" company - Create a learning organization by using information and strategically embracing technology - Use technology to take a customer-centric approach to product development Thank you to EntreFEST for the opportunity to attend and the organizers for a smooth conference!

Organizing GR8 Tech’s first exhibition in Brazil, we had to hire security for the stand for the first time. I would never have thought of it before, which made me think about all the unexpected aspects of planning an event in a new region. So, here’s a friendly checklist to guide you through your next international event: ✈️ Merch logistics. Ever wondered if it’s better to ship your promotional items or stuff them into your suitcases? Consider the timelines, the costs, the convenience of carrying everything, and a million things that can go wrong either way and try figuring out the right answer for your next event. ✈️ Understanding the audience. Do you know what the attendees in the target country appreciate and what they could do without? For our event, realizing that people might show up late or in larger groups than expected helped tailor our approach to the stand building. ✈️ Keep it simple, or go all out? Consider if your audience is familiar with flashy giveaways or if simple, thoughtful items make a stronger impact. Sometimes, less is more. ✈️ Safety first! Always think of your team’s safety from a local perspective? Opting for cabs over public transport, keeping valuables discreet, and moving in groups can ensure everyone stays secure in some cases. It’s one of the rare cases where locals are not very helpful: being used to the environment, they tend to downplay the dangers. For example, I was quite surprised to learn that phones are the most common item to be stolen in Brazil, thus it is advisable to uninstall all apps related to banking/money and hide your phone as far away from prying eyes as possible, or ideally take a spare phone and use it during your trip. Better safe than sorry! Each region has its quirks, and keeping these questions in mind can help you adapt and ensure a successful event. I sure will come back to it once in a while to self-check. And what’s on your list? Share your tips! #EventPlanning #GR8Tech #iGaming #ProfessionalInsights #PR #events #SiGMAAmericas #SiGMA

𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐈 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐔𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐕𝐀𝐋𝐃 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 Imagine a world where technology seamlessly integrates with clinical expertise to enhance patient care. This is the promise of VALD Health technology—a suite of tools that revolutionises how we assess, treat, and engage with patients. At the heart of this transformation is a simple idea: combining objective data with human intuition unlocks the potential for better outcomes. VALD technology provides objective measurements crucial for precise treatment plans. Tools like the ForceDecks, ForceFrame, Dynamo, Smartspeed, Nordboard and the HumanTrak Movement Analysis System give us accurate data on strength, power, and movement quality. This isn’t just about numbers; it’s about making informed decisions rooted in reality, not guesswork. Consider the impact of having all this data centralised in the VALD Hub. It’s like having a dashboard showing exactly where your patients are on their recovery journey. This clarity allows us to make real-time adjustments and communicate effectively with our patients. When patients see their progress in precise, quantitative terms, it boosts their motivation and compliance with their treatment plans. VALD technology also brings versatility. These tools ensure consistent, high-quality care in a hospital, private clinic, or even a patient’s home. The ability to conduct comprehensive assessments anywhere enhances patient convenience and supports continuity of care. But here’s the real magic: it’s not just about the technology. It’s about what this technology enables us to do. By providing precise, objective data, VALD technology helps us connect with our patients on a deeper level. It transforms the clinical experience from one of uncertainty to one of clarity and purpose. Patients aren’t just following a treatment plan—they’re part of a journey where every step is measured, understood, and celebrated. In essence, VALD technology empowers us to deliver better outcomes by enhancing our ability to see, understand, and act. It’s about using technology not to replace the human touch but to amplify it. When we harness the power of objective data, we create a future where every patient interaction is meaningful, every decision is informed, and every outcome is optimised. This is why I love using VALD technology in clinical settings. It’s not just about improving patient care; it’s about redefining what’s possible when technology and humanity come together. #technology #data #valuedriven #customerexperience #healthcare
