10X Thinking at Arison School of Business How do you solve a HUGE problem? By developing a RADICAL solution with BREAKTHROUGH technology. As Larry Page, Co-Founder of Google, famously said: "If you're not doing some things that are crazy, then you're doing the wrong things." Last week, students in our Digital Innovation Course in our school, led by Daniella Perlstein, had the privilege of an inspiring lecture by Yuval Passov, Head of Google for Startups, Emerging Markets. Yuval shared the Google Pillars of Innovation, emphasizing the role of transparency—a principle demonstrated by Google’s legendary co-founders, Sergey Brin and Larry Page, through their weekly All-Hands meetings. These sessions create an open forum for addressing tough employee questions and fostering a shared vision across the company. Yuval’s engaging discussion offered students valuable insights on how to bring their innovative ideas to life and take their first steps as entrepreneurs. We’re confident they left the session with newfound tools, confidence, and motivation to make their mark on the startup world. Thank you, Yuval, for inspiring the next generation of innovators! #Innovation #AI #Entrepreneurship #Startups #StartupNation

Yesterday morning I had the pleasure of meeting Eli David Rokah from StartupBlink. In the afternoon I gave a short talk at an #Ecoaction event with international guests that had just taken place at the FHV - Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences. Spontaneously, I invited Eli to do the speaking slot with me... Eli showed us his global startup map and we talked about various startup topics. One of Eli's theses made me think: he said that the choice of the startup #ecosystem in which someone realizes their idea is one of the most important decisions to be made in the early stages of a startup. Eli argued that a good ecosystem brings with it all the beneficial variables such as capital, talent and other resources. I then challenged Eli a bit and posed the counter thesis that the importance of location will become less important in times of #remote first companies. We were able to discuss this a little more, but then I had to move on to a #startup coaching session. But it was an interesting discussion that I would like to continue 🔥🚀 What do you think is the importance of a startup's #location for its success? Rate it from 1 (not important at all) to 10 (the most important), and if you want to share your reasoning for the rating, write it in the comments. 👉 Click the notification bell 🔔 on my LinkedIn profile and subscribe to my weekly publication #MadeMeThink (see my profile) to keep up with my curated content for visionaries, innovators, and critical thinkers 👈 Thanks Diana Eglseder for the picture 🙏

Innovation is the lifeblood of any thriving economy. It ignites creativity and binds people to solve the most pressing challenges. I have had the privilege of evaluating the creative work pursued by the brilliant minds of entrepreneurs through multiple industry events. Sharing a few top-of-the-mind observations for founders: Understanding the Problem: Successful startups begin with a profound grasp of the problem they go after solving. This understanding lays a strong foundation for effective products and solutions. Early Validation: Validating the ideas early helps ensure that there's a real demand that people in the target segment are willing to pay for. Building with End Users and Anchor Customers: Involving end users and securing anchor customers ensures that the product meets actual needs and it’ll have pull-driven demand. Potential to Scale: It’s important to plan obtainable market by working bottom-up and understand how business model is scalable profitably. Passion and Purpose: Startups driven by a clear sense of purpose are more likely to overcome obstacles and stay committed during what will likely be a long and difficult journey. Value over Valuation: Focusing on creating real value instead of chasing valuations leads to sustainable successes and fulfilling outcomes. The startups I have had the privilege of assessing through these events are not just businesses. Right mentorship and getting basics right are critical for them to be the 'Driving Force' behind economic growth and societal progress. Looking forward to continuing to root for this ecosystem. <Picture from a recent startup battle event organized by Global Startup Club.> #innovation #startups #mentorship
