In the heart of P2BS, we've rewritten the narrative of workplace dialogue. Our talks no longer merely skim the surface of health and safety; they now courageously venture into the depths of mental resilience and emotional well-being. This transformative shift sees us addressing topics once whispered about—suicide, depression, and the like—because we understand that true safety isn't just physical; it's about nurturing our minds and hearts. We've embraced this evolution wholeheartedly, knowing that by nurturing ourselves emotionally, we create a foundation for genuine safety and thriving at work. #proud2bsafe #p2bs #p2bsuk #safety #safetyspeaker #healthandsafety #healthandsafetyuk #safetyleadership #wellnessmatters #motivatesafety #safetyatwork #healthfirst #motivationalspeaker #motivationalsafetyspeaker #reel #reels #healthreels #safetyreels #healthandsafetyreels #reelssafety #safetyadvocate #awareness

As part of VTTI's leadership conference, I had the honor of attending a presentation by Prof Tim Marsh and Jason Anker MBE, UK's leading inspirational safety speaker. Jason's powerful story reminded us how important is behavioral safety and how accidents can change people’s lives. The presentation also emphasized the importance of mental health and wellbeing. ‘’Life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we react to it’’ - this was my key takeaway from the keynote speech. Let's prioritize workplace wellbeing by minimizing risks and contributing to safety culture every day! #VTTI #HealthAndSafety #SafetyCulture #WorkplaceWellbeing

Over the past few weeks, we have shared our 𝐅𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐀𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐬𝐲𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐚𝐳𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬. This week, we look at ACT. Previous parts of the framework focus on gathering information (𝐀𝐒𝐊), keeping the lines of communication open (𝐀𝐂𝐊𝐍𝐎𝐖𝐋𝐄𝐃𝐆𝐄), and helping where and when it is needed (𝐀𝐒𝐒𝐈𝐒𝐓). And last week, we focused on the need to assess what we found. When we 𝐀𝐒𝐒𝐄𝐒𝐒, we look carefully and constantly at the information about psychosocial hazards and check its alignment with policies, procedures, values, goals, external standards, guidelines, and legislation. It enables us to identify what we need to do, what is most urgent, and where to take action first. When we 𝐀𝐂𝐓, this can include training (such as Mental Health First Aid) to help us deal with psychosocial hazards and make changes to the workplace to reduce or remove these hazards. For example, this might include more frequent breaks for frontline staff, a review of roles and responsibilities of those in a team to clarify job definitions, or introducing policies to ensure employees can ‘disconnect’ at the end of the day. We need to ACT with imagination and innovation to create sustainable safety solutions. One of the benefits of the 5 Aces Framework is that it provides a common language for everyone to contribute and to understand what we need to do and why. 👉 Connect or reach out to schedule a quick discussion to explore how our framework can start improving your workplace. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gUmZTs4K #PsychologicalSafety #leadership #AsiaPacific #psychosocialhazards #workplacesafety

Creating a Culture of Safety: Your Role in Preventing Workplace Violence Imagine walking into your workplace and sensing tension in the air. You notice a colleague who’s been increasingly frustrated, and you wonder if this might lead to something more serious. This is where effective training and awareness can make a difference. By engaging in training programs that cover anti-bullying strategies, conflict resolution, and mental health awareness, you empower yourself and your coworkers to recognize the warning signs before they escalate. You learn about the five types of workplace violence—criminal intent, customer/client, worker-on-worker, domestic, and ideological—and understand how to navigate each situation. Think about the tools you gain from these programs. You’re not just learning; you’re building a culture of non-violence. Every refresher session reinforces this knowledge, ensuring you’re prepared to de-escalate potentially volatile situations. In this shared responsibility, you have the power to create a safer workplace for everyone. So, take that step—get involved, stay informed, and be the catalyst for change in your environment. #WorkplaceSafety #ConflictResolution #EmployeeWellbeing #ChangeManagement

A huge thank you to everyone that attended the BC First Responder Mental Health Committee's virtual training session today (Leading Organizational Change to Support High Performance and Psychological Well-being)! Thanks also to the amazing team at WorkSafeBC for hosting and supporting the event! It was designed specifically for first responder leaders to learn more about the intersection between organizational culture, stigma, and performance and well-being. Dr. Duncan Shields, Ph.D., R. Psych. from Blueprint, did a fantastic job presenting, and I always appreciate his insight into our world. Below is a word cloud image that was created by the participants. It includes very powerful words describing first responder leaders who create a circle of safety, inclusion, and trust. As you can see, the biggest attribute identified was empathy, which everyone at every level of an organization should embody!
