We recently joined an event aimed at consulting with Aboriginal community-controlled organisations (ACCOs) across SA. We wanted to dive into a few key things: -Figuring out what's working well and what's strong in the ACCO sector right now. -Hearing about where ACCOs want to go in the future and who they want to team up with. -Finding out what's helping or holding back the growth and lasting power of the ACCO scene. We had Bill from KSJ Consulting Service facilitate the session, a totally Aboriginal-run business, who are leading workshops all over the state. We encourage all ACCOs in South Australia to jump in and share their thoughts in this vital process. Your input is super important because it'll help in two big ways: -Shaping a government framework that'll guide agencies on how to better connect with ACCOs and pump more funding into the sector ("the Framework"). -Helping craft an ACCO sector Strategic Plan that'll map out where the sector's at now and what areas need to grow and get stronger ("the ACCO sector Strategic Plan"). There are still some workshops to attend until engagement closes on 24th May so get involved and find out more by visiting our website: https://lnkd.in/gHi2KdpA #arabana #ACCO #KSJconsulting #workshops #engagement #consultancy

IPAA Queensland invites our members and partners to be challenged at our exclusive 2024 Irene Longman Oration event taking place on Wednesday 20th November, supported by our major partner Holding Redlich. Don’t miss the opportunity to hear from our distinguished speaker Professor Helen Sullivan FIPAA, Dean ANU College of Asia and the Pacific. Collaboration is embedded in the pursuit of public purpose – between and across tiers and spheres of government, with private, not for profit, and community actors, and through market and network instruments. Collaboration came of age in the late 20th century, a consequence of changed global conditions and sweeping public administration reforms that re-shaped policy and practice. Until now. The current global instability, the uneven legacy of reform and the emergence/persistence of public policy challenges suggests we need a new approach. The Irene Longman Oration is a timely opportunity to think about where we are and to draw inspiration from Irene’s preparedness to challenge the status quo to consider how we can shape what comes next. The Irene Longman Oration is an exclusive, invite-only event on IPAA Queensland’s annual calendar, with individual members able to attend this event for free as part of their membership. Keen to secure your seat? Check out the event details on the IPAA Queensland website now and join. https://lnkd.in/gi7iDdBM #ipaainsights #ipaaqld2024 #keepinformed #buildconnections #challengeyourthinking #collaboration #government

It’s been 8 enlightening weeks of learning, unlearning and relearning at the Rising Tide Africa Board Readiness Programme. I met some really amazing ladies and facilitators like Yvonne Ogunoiki Mary Akpobome Cecilia Akintomide Tinuade Awe, M.CIoD Hetty Ugboh Foluso Phillips Dr. Olayemi Dawodu Bashirat Odunewu Fola Akinrinlola Omobola Johnson I’ld like to leave you with a few #nuggets: 1. Board membership is not a full time job but it is a full time responsibility (Tinuade Awe) 2. White spaces are where risks and opportunities lie (Mr Foluso Phillips) 3. The committee is the kitchen of the Board (Cecilia Akintomide) 4. A director’s oversight is nose-in, fingers-out (Cecilia Akintomide) 5. The boardroom is a place of intense power and intense vulnerability (Cecilia Akintomide) 6. A board member’s posture should be one of a coach (Cecilia Akintomide) 7. Sustainability is about holding something in trust for the future/next generation (Ivana Osagie) 8. A director is the custodian and guardian of the organisation (Hetty Ugboh) 9. Manage your expectations; be prepared to start small (Dr Mobola Johnson) And of course the boardroom simulation chaired by Bashirat Odunewu brought everything to life. Thanks Ivana I. 7 weekends spent at the Rising Tide Africa Board Readiness Program remains one of the highlights of my year 2024. Having interacted with several boards in secretarial and managerial capacity over the course of my career - I was eager to sharpen my expertise in this area and it was an excellent investment. I’m continuing to implement my learnings from the sterling faculty and my amazing colleagues on the program. My summary take aways below: 1. How Boards Work - Tinuade Awe, M.CIoD shared important insights on implementing the RAFTE principles of Corporate Governance (Responsibility, Accountability, Fairness, Transparency and Ethics) for Boards especially in the African context. 2. Strategy and the Board - Foluso Phillips expertly explained the 3x3 framework for effective & strategic decision making (Organizational level, Process Level, Job performance Level). 3. Understanding Board Dynamics - Cecilia Akintomide skillfully shared strategies on navigating the 4Rs (Right People, Right Purpose (Vision & Goals) , Right Tools, Right Tone (Communication & Accountability). 4. Sustainablity & ESG in the Board Room - Ivana I. Osagie - shared valuable insights on this hot topic for Boards, and the importance of establishing a materiality matrix outlining areas of focus based on what’s important to a company and also to it’s critical stakeholders to drive it’s sustainability agenda. 5. Board Meeting Simulation - Bashirat Odunewu - ably chaired this session to put our learnings to practice and I learnt the importance of emotional intelligence in the Boardroom. 6. Securing your first Board Seat - Omobola Johnson - left me with the importance of following your passions, genuine interests and areas of competence to ensure that I will truly add value on any boards I serve. Contributions from amazing participants made the sessions more interesting and rewarding: Yemi Keri, Oyiza Salu FCIPM,Dr. Olayemi Dawodu, Fola Akinrinlola, Dolapo Kukoyi, Mary Akpobome. I regrettably missed Hetty Ugboh’s session on Finance & Risk Management as I had to be away on a trip. Thanks Oyiza Salu FCIPM for the nugget from this. Thanks to Ivana I. Osagie, Yemi Keri and the Rising Tide Africa team for putting it all together!

Professional associations face unique challenges as they work to attract new members, grow engagement, and boost non-dues revenue. Yet, associations that report increases in professional development registrations and certifications are more likely to report one-year and five-year membership growth. (2024 Membership Marketing Benchmarking Report) That’s why we created “The Association Growth Playbook: 5 Strategies for Thriving in 2025.” In it, you'll discover how to: ✔️ Drive higher course signups by highlighting their career value ✔️ Create engaging learning pathways to boost member retention ✔️ Use credentials as an organic marketing channel to expand brand reach ✔️ Personalize the learner journey to convert members into lifelong advocates ✔️ Leverage data for continuous improvement and program success See how associations like the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA), Institute of Industrial & Systems Engineers (IISE), Food Skills Canada, and others are already seeing results. I am grateful for the opportunity to rapporteur during the Anglican Development Services (Kenya) regional directors meeting. 📝 What does a rapporteur service entail, one may ask? When teams/ groups sit in meetings, forums, or symposiums, they need to concentrate on the presentations. A rapporteur sits in the meeting capturing key lessons, action points, and overall process notes. At the end of the sessions, he/ she submits a written report about the event. 👉 How does this help the organization? My take is that, if it was not documented, then it did not happen! Documentation is the proof of process and preservation of posterity. Reports are requisite documents for reference. ⌛ Why is this necessary? Often when the organization tasks staff to draft a report, back-to-the-office blues overshadow a report for an event that has already happened. Contracted rapporteurs deliver within the agreed timelines. Credibility is key thus the reports are edited thoroughly. The length varies depending on the needs of the organization. While some organizations focus on the entire event/ meeting, other prefer highlights on action points or focus on the key speakers. The contractual agreements guardrail the deliverables. Planning for a meeting, retreat, symposium, training, etc? Consider contracting a rapporteur and let your team concentrate 😊

🌟 Reflecting on Friday's Incredible SPBA Event 🌟 A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined our Emerging Self-Funded Professionals Online Networking event last Friday! 🙌 Your active participation made it an enriching experience. Special gratitude to our guest speaker, Andrea Gambardella, SPBA Self-Funded Professional and Director of Operations at 90 Degree Benefits, CT (formerly Stirling Benefits). Andrea generously shared her inspiring career journey, from humble beginnings to her current role, offering valuable insights into both her triumphs and challenges. One key takeaway from Andrea's wisdom: "The most rewarding part of my job is keeping people engaged, ensuring we have the right talent, and making sure our team feels valued. Focus on your people, as everyone wants to feel heard and have a voice. Our industry is evolving rapidly, and to keep up, prioritize your people." She added, "Joining the SPBA Board has put me further down my journey, and I still feel I have so much more to learn; joining the Board has been a great place to start." Richard Hardin, SPBA Board member and President at Edison Health Solutions, extended a warm invitation to SPBA TPA members to join the Board. He emphasized the strength of friendships formed within SPBA. According to Richard, these connections are invaluable, serving as reliable resources and a supportive network. Richard shared, "SPBA is great for the content that Anne and her team provide. It's always been first class and never a concern about misinformation. The conversations between the sessions are important and I view fellow Board members as great friends who have supported me. The Board has been instrumental in my personal growth. There are a lot of lessons to learn and we can prevent a lot of mistakes from happening when building those relationships. Being able to call someone at SPBA with a question or a concern is invaluable." Let's continue to learn, grow, and build meaningful connections within the SPBA community! 🚀 #SPBA #SelfFundedProfessionals #ProfessionalDevelopment #thirdpartyadministrators #tpa
