#QuoteOfTheWeek | “The countries of the world are not at the same level in climate pollution, as there are developed countries that have greater footprints in climate pollution through their economic activities, as it is not fair to create equality in obligations, especially since developing countries are the least in terms of climate pollution. There is an urgent need to provide soft financing to developing countries that emit the least carbon to implement adaptation and mitigation projects that contribute to achieving carbon neutrality in support of a planet that is livable and workable.” Financial Regulatory Authority’s Head Mohamed Farid. #ArabFinance #Egypt #Economy #News

Part 4(Carbon Credit Project): Addressing the Disparity-Carbon Emissions vs. Offset Credits In my latest analysis of this project's historical data 📊🔍, a concerning trend emerges. 🌍 While CO2 emissions continue to soar, offset credits remain stagnant. This discrepancy is alarming and calls for immediate action. To address this challenge, we need to ramp up efforts to increase offset credit generation, adopt more sustainable practices, and advocate for stronger climate policies. Our planet's future hinges on these critical actions! 🌱💡 #ClimateAction #Sustainability #CarbonCredit Power Shift Africa, African Climate Stories, Pan African Climate Justice Alliance PACJA, KENYA PLATFORM FOR CLIMATE GOVERNANCE, ClimateWorks Foundation ACEF - Africa Climate and Environment Foundation, ClimateWorks Foundation, Climate Finance KENYA, Kenya Climate Innovation Center (KCIC), Climate.

Today's sessions on the Climate voices NG bootcamp week 2 with Dr. Shakirat B. Ibrahim and Abbas Agbaje (PIEMA, GRI-CSP) was quite Insightful. International Climate Agreements like the Paris Agreement and the Kyoto Protocol set global targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Nigeria's Climate Policy Framework includes commitments like Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) to reduce emissions and National Adaptation Plans (NAP) to adapt to climate change impacts, focusing on sectors vital for the country's development and resilience. Also climate finance and technology play crucial roles in addressing climate change, yet there's still a gap between the funding needed and what's available. Loss and damage from climate impacts require mechanisms for compensation and resilience-building, while promoting green jobs can contribute to sustainable development goals by fostering economic growth and environmental sustainability. #ClimateVoicesNG #NGYouthSDGs

The 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) has concluded with the adoption of the New Collective Quantified Goal (NCQG), replacing the outdated $100 billion annual climate finance target. The new goal sets a $300 billion annual target for climate financing, led by developed nations, until 2035. However, this decision falls short of the estimated $1.3 trillion per year required by developing nations to meet their climate finance needs. I leave Baku, reflecting on who really makes decisions in matters of dignity on which the climate negotiations are based upon, and whether developing states have the capacity to negotiate a fair outcome that reflects its needs on climate finance?
