#Checkitout – a recent article in #ScienceAdvances, highlights researchers at #OakRidgeNationalLab, led by Felipe Polo-Garzon, who have developed an innovative method to dechlorinate polyvinyl chloride (PVC) at a mild temperature of 200°C using gallium (Ga) as a liquid metal catalyst. This groundbreaking process achieves a 90% reduction in chlorine content, producing hydrogen gas and carbon materials with minimal production of corrosive hydrogen chloride gas. This method offers a controlled and environmentally friendly recycling solution for PVC. https://ow.ly/m8oT50TgWTy

Wastecare's portable battery recycling 🔋 Our specialist portable battery recycling facility – the first of its kind – has a 25,000 tonne annual capacity. When this is fulfilled, it would enable us to recycle 100% of the UK’s spent alkaline and zinc carbon batteries. Our facility is capable of pre-treating batteries containing lithium, nickel cadmium, lead, and mercury, prior to pyro recovery. With over 30,000 collection points nationwide, we’re the largest collector and recycler of batteries in the UK, this enables us to meet the recycling obligations for our customers who have joined our battery producer compliance scheme.
