A-LEVEL RESULTS ARE OUT TODAY It is not the end of the/your world And this is why you shouldn’t let the results define you Many students in the UK will be receiving their final year A-Level results today These results often determine what university they will get into I still remember how I felt this time today, 10 years ago Truth be told, I didn’t do great with my results I felt disappointed, and quite down (like my whole world was turned upside down) 10 years on, my world is still standing upright The breakthrough I realised are in these lessons: 1) Your results today didn’t define your results tomorrow if you put in the work 2) The university you go to doesn’t make you. Rather you make your future through your actions 3) There are many avenues to success - University isn’t the only way - There are apprenticeships and other routes too. Finally, congratulate yourself on making it to results day (regardless of results) Share to someone that will benefit from this.

In large organizations, #training incoming talent is a big lift. And if you're scaling, it can pose a persistent challenge. Does it make sense to use more traditional formats, like training sessions and tests? More interpersonal formats like apprenticeships? Or leverage modern tooling for ease and scalability over time? I am constantly putting myself in places that feel uncomfortable in order to grow. And this morning that was on live TV to debate apprenticeships vs uni this results day. (and yes, I couldn’t sleep last night😂) My key messages were: 👉 You are the creator of your own destiny so university shouldn’t be the only way to ‘success’. 👉 You can still experience things i.e abroad travel & engaging with a diverse range of people through apprenticeships. 👉 Apprenticeships give you more flexibility, IMO, over university as you can move around a business to discover likes and dislikes. 👉 An apprenticeship helped me in ways university wouldn’t have - i.e I developed a network to start a business. 👉 How I think degrees should be funded in the future (through employers and the apprenticeship levy). 👉 Employers have onboarding schemes and programmes to set young people up. They’re not just thrown in the deep end - there is structure. And there was so much more I wanted to say! At the end it was revealed that 20% of viewers watching voted university was still worth it in 2024. Whilst 80% voted it’s not worth it in 2024. What do you think? 😆 What a pinch me moment!

Today is the day for so many young people who have dedicated the last 2 years to complete their A-Levels and hope you all get the grades you are looking for! GOOD LUCK!!!! Whilst I do understand some career paths you do need to go to university, the vast majority you do not and how many people complete a degree that has no relevance to the career path they eventually go down, so is it worth the time and expense. I agree Holly that young people today are the creators of their own destiny. There are so many options out there to learn and grow but what university does not give you and an apprenticeship does is hands-on experience in the workplace, which is invaluable. There are now 598 apprenticeship standards, of which 130 are Level 6, and 83 are Level 7 which shows there is so much opportunity to gain experience, gain experience, complete a degree, and even gain a Masters. I love everything about apprenticeships, what they offer and what they can do for not just our young people, but those who are looking to retrain, or wanting to advance. I just hope Skills England continue to enhance and grow the apprenticeship offerings once fully integrated. The future is yours to make it what you want so go get it!
