Check out my latest Human Capital Leadership article, "Accelerating Organizational Vision Through Strategic Focused Action." From the conclusion: "Any organization with a long-term strategic vision can accelerate achievement of that vision from years to months through focused execution. By clarifying top priorities, establishing clear and frequent accountability, aligning all teams through ongoing communication, and maintaining an environment of strategic adaptability, leaders empower their people to achieve audacious goals far ahead of schedule. This turbocharged approach has been proven in companies and nonprofits across sectors, demonstrating its universal applicability. Achieving a 10-year plan in just 6 months is indeed possible when leaders maintain relentless focus on results through the four principles of strategic focus, accountability, goal alignment, and ongoing evaluation. "No matter whether your goals are referred to as key performance indicators(KPIs), targets, or milestones, they need to be clearly stated, understood, and agreed upon by everybody who will be involved in achieving them. To achieve this buy-in, you need to be ready to listen, communicate, negotiate and compromise with all relevant parties. This includes with your boss, who might impose some targets on you and your team but which are totally out of reach. You may need to push back and negotiate more acceptable goals and targets." 100 things successful leaders do” by Nigel Cumberland

Having read her books multiple times, I've taken her definition of a leader to heart, and a printed version proudly hangs on my bulletin board: "Leader: Anyone who takes responsibility for finding the potential in people and processes and who has the courage to develop that potential." ~Brene Brown This mantra resonates deeply with me, especially in my role as a business advisor and operational specialist for small businesses. It's not just about building and managing operations; it's about fostering growth, both for individuals and the company as a whole. For me, effective leadership goes hand in hand with implementing solid processes and systems. A well-designed operational system, tailored to accommodate the varied workstyles of my team, empowers them to reach their highest potential and deliver exceptional results for our clients. It's about lifting all boats, ensuring that everyone thrives in a supportive environment. But to establish such a system, we must first lay down the foundational blocks of change management.
