In Wirral, for example, they're introducing AV1 Robots to help children struggling with emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA) reconnect with school in a safe, supportive way. 🤖 These robots allow students to share feelings, participate in lessons, and build confidence - all through a one-way live stream that helps them ease back into the classroom. The results? A remarkable 21% increase in attendance, and a 42% boost in lesson engagement. 📈 It feels like something out of a Sci-Fi film, but it's happening here and now, and the impact is tangible. These exciting innovations in Education have the potential to transform the way future generations learn and grow. What an incredible event it was! The talent on display this Saturday was nothing short of inspiring. Here are six key takeaways from the day: 1. Partnerships Matter: WCED expertly coordinated a diverse group of partners. Each partner was assigned responsibilities according to their strengths, contributing to the event's overall success. 2. Venue and Support: The choice of venue was ideal, but the standout was the dedicated support from CPUT's engineering students, who played a pivotal role in guiding learners on the day. 3. Champion teachers: A strong champion teacher is crucial to driving participation and success at the school level. Their leadership can make all the difference in engaging learners and integrating digital programmes. 4. Corporate Involvement: Old Mutual’s participation was invaluable. As corporate support grows, so too will the impact of these initiatives. 5. Student Engagement: The enthusiasm and curiosity of the learners were the driving forces behind the event’s success. 6. Looking Ahead: This hackathon has laid a strong foundation for future events, potentially inspiring and empowering even more young minds. #MakingSpaceHighlight One of the key components of the Kheldai Sikdai project was to create a space for students to take an idea and create actionable tangible artifacts. The Kheldai Sikdai project has been instrumental in developing such unique learning space with a focus on 'making' in 5 different schools, Shree Panchakanya Secondary School being one of them. Our team co-designed the Making Space with the school leader and teachers at Shree Panchakanya Secondary School with a focus on robotics and coding. Central to this effort is the creation of a Making Space that supports playful learning and STEAM education through open-source resources. While the space primarily focuses on robotics and coding, it is designed to be versatile, allowing teachers from various disciplines to use it for different subjects. This ensures that the Making Space serves as a dynamic hub, not limited to just coding and robotics.
