"What do you mean 'venture studio'?" - Question from potential investors in Summit Venture Studio. Trying to answer concisely is sometimes difficult. When we raised funds for our studio if investors would spend about an hour talking with us about our model they would have several "ah ha" moments. It was tough for us to get those "ah ha" moments in a 10 minute pitch. - I think there were two reasons for this... 1. my pitching skills. 2. unfamiliar business model(s) For # 2 we were up against combining several new/unfamiliar business models in unfamiliar markets... 1. Venture studio model 2. University tech transfer commercialization 3. NOT a 2/20 fund model 4. NOT a 10 year VC fund timeframe 5. NOT unicorn hunting For our next Studio Fund I would like to both my pitching skills AND explaining these models more effectively and efficiently. What questions do you have about this slide explaining a venture studio?
