Corporate Social Responsibility has evolved from a philanthropic endeavor to a strong business imperative, a decisive factor in attracting global clients. An organization’s CSR strategy needs to be carefully and intentionally crafted to not only deliver impact but also reflect a brand’s values and commitment to social good. India Inc. witnessed a 5% increase in CSR spending in FY23, reaching Rs 15,524 crore. Notably, HDFC Bank, Tata Consultancy Services, & Reliance Industries led these contributions. Together with seven other corporations, they accounted for 33% of the total spend, underscoring a significant commitment towards sustainable development. As CSR evolves, strategic & collaborative efforts are essential. It was a great pleasure to attend a session on CSR ( Corporate Social Responsibility) today, which was conducted by Alexander Campbell, PhD, CPM . This session was a great experience for us because we got to learn about different perspectives and different things about it. “India Inc.’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) spends rose by 5% from Rs 14,816 crore in FY22 to Rs 15,524 crore in FY23 across 1,296 NSE-listed companies, led by HDFC Bank (Rs 820.89 crore), Tata Consultancy Services (Rs 783 crore) and Reliance Industries (Rs 744 crore).” Interestingly the article also says that ten companies including these three, accounted for 33% of the total CSR spends in FY23. While the concentration of CSR spending among a select few companies highlights the growing commitment of these leaders, the data showcases the immense collective potential for social impact when companies work together. As CSR continues to evolve, a strategic direction can further amplify its impact. Collaborating to achieve common goals through combined CSR efforts can help us address critical social and environmental issues. Our key priorities have been derived keeping in mind the World YWCA Strategic Framework 2024-2027 to propel us into the future.
