The kiln in video isn't Polysius, its FLS Rotax 1985 design.This design is prone to extremely high vibrations sometimes even leading to structural damage to kiln piers and planetry drive gearboxes or hydraulic motors. Initially we thought it to be synchronizing challenge, however, later we concluded that the timing marks on drive rollers are common phenomenon in this design due to two reasons: 1. Uneven flexing of radial elastomer blocks due to varying load dynamics on the LHS and RHS. 2.This kiln comes with fixed tyre design, the mounting with dog bone shape blocks with spring combination allows the tyre to wobble axially, causing continous contact change on rolling surfaces between tyre and drive support rollers. Solution to overcome this problem was incorporated in our plant: Machining of rollers every two years as suggested by OEM(its not the best solution, as we are reducing useful life of rollers and tyres). We stopped doing this after two bouts of machining and several rounds of welding repairs of dog bone blocks. The ideal solution was incorporation of hydraulic cylinders replacing the radial elastomer blocks. The hydraulic cylinders were connected to common power pack with pressure accumulator with N2 pressure at 20bar.
