This year has been incredibly hectic. But it's different from the usual kind of hectic. I don't feel like I'm constantly being chased by something. It might be because I deleted my social media apps from my smartphone, only gathering necessary information, focusing on my work, and spending time in person with the people I want to meet in places I want to visit. Having the social apps only on my iPad makes me hardly check them anymore. I highly recommend it. You'll find more time for yourself. However, I still want to trim down even more. I seriously need to shed the extra weight off my body soon. I need to sharpen my mind and trim down my body. The fundraising this year was really long and tough. I think we’ll be able to announce some good news soon. It's all thanks to the team members who allow me to delegate tasks and focus my energy solely on what I need to concentrate on. Also, this year we've been selected for various programs that support international expansion. We've been chosen by government agencies like NEDO, JETRO, and the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry for projects such as a pilot project in India, and programs to expand into the U.S. and U.K. These are truly valuable opportunities for all of our team members. In Japan, Kanto, Kansai, and Kyushu are buzzing. We're recruiting members in other regions too. In the U.S., we have a base in Silicon Valley, with plans to expand to New York and Boston. In India, our base is in New Delhi, with expansion plans for Mumbai and Bengaluru. In Europe, our base is in London, with plans to expand to Germany, France, and the Netherlands. We're quickly setting up operations in various countries, while also growing the business in our core market of Japan. Lately, we've been getting a lot of opportunities from the Middle East. I'm planning to visit Dubai and Abu Dhabi in October. It looks like I'll also be going to Bhutan within this fiscal year. Why am I mentioning so many locations? Because we need more teammates. Are digital nomads being selfish❓❓ During Digital Nomads Connect Morocco I had very interesting conversations with a local government and business owners representatives. During one of these conversations I was challenged that nomads can come as selfish when they request destinations to adapt to their needs 🤔🤔 So this leads us to an interesting question: should destinations change and adapt to nomads needs or should nomads respect and accept country reality as it is? 🙂🙃 There is no simple answer to this question however as both positions can be true depending on the context. It's quickly approaching winter in the UAE ❄⛱ Which means, everyone is outside!! Events, outdoor activities, beaches, staycays...the lot! Here are some tips if you're in Product, Tech, Venture Building, a Founder or networking for a new opportunity, from someone who has and is continuing to build their network here. ⛱ Tuesdays - Thursdays are when most events occur, so sync your office days with these for ease. ⛱ They're usually hosted in co-working venues or tech offices. Which is pretty cool, as you can get a feel for a company and it might even inspire you to apply for a role there. ⛱ Along with researching who the panel will be and noting down some questions for the Q+A, I find events a great space to hear from others, especially in industries outside my role. I tend to end up chatting away about ideas with upcoming founders, hear about their experiences in local companies, and have found friends through follow up coffees and calls! ⛱ If you recognise someone, introduce yourself! Dubai and Abu Dhabi from my experience are super friendly cities, with relatively small tech/product and venture crowds. Chances are someone will remember you for weeks or months to come, and that is how you can secure future roles.
