Gen AI means more reputation risk Generative AI is revolutionising the process of creating communications content. And it's directly changing media consumption habits, accelerating the disintermediation of mainstream media and facilitating the rise of alternative content sources. Meanwhile the proliferation of synthetic media content has negative implications for trust and authenticity. AI-generated content is blurring the lines between reality and fabrication, challenging traditional media’s role as gatekeepers of trusted information. In this short piece, I argue that 'Gen AI’ is therefore massively raising the threat level for brand reputation risk. All thoughts welcome. https://lnkd.in/dPNRiMiK

GenAI poses a significant reputational risk. It allows anyone to imitate others' image or even put words in their mouth. The Kendrick Lamar & Drake beef is a prime example of the latter (yes, I'm still following that story 😁). Someone released a supposed Kendrick track which turns out is just AI. And that's both terrifying and exciting. On the flip side, genAI allows for greater freedom of expression, creativity, efficiency and other whatnots. Anthony Burgess-Webb, one of Commetric's co-founders, dives deeper into the reputational risks that generative AI presents. And it's not just celebrities that could suffer, but also corporations and frankly, governments too. All I'm saying is that media literacy is more important now than it's ever been and that comms people need to take account of the risks genAI implies. #reputationmanagement #publicrelations #pr #comms #genai #ai #risk #riskmanagement #corporatecomms #corporateaffairs

A revival of real-world media…and leading on AI, not being led by it- part 2. In an increasingly saturated digital media landscape, many consumers are now tuning out or “skipping” past the daily barrage of digital media and advertising. As a result, we are seeing a curious revival in traditional, tangible or real world, experiential type media. That said, as we peer into the future of the creative industry, we must also note that the integration of AI is an inevitability. And, yes, it is a useful and much faster tool for helping develop ideas. However, with AI experts suggesting we are perhaps still decades away from sentient-like, AGI (Artificial General Intelligence), the real-world, human spark of creative inspiration remains the leading driver of all creative work. 9Yards Communications ☑️

Target knew that some of their customers were pregnant even before they told anyone. 😲 How? 🤔 They leveraged data and AI to understand and predict customer behavior based on shopping searches and trends. As AI gets better, how do companies make sure an ethical line isn't crossed? What data remains private and what data is okay to use? This is an interesting discussion about ethics and AI by Sarah Lloyd Favaro .What if you're ethically sound but the tools you've deployed trained well enough to make sound ethical decisions? Why does this matter? It does, it will eventually affect your bottomline in the long run. - It determines how you use and store your customer data - How you build trust with your customers and vendors - How you train employees to use tools to grow your business at the same time maintain the balance to be ethically sound https://lnkd.in/dVf4eY8Y #responsibleAI #artificialintelligence #marketing #innovation

THE CONTENT IS KING? In today's digital age, the maxim #Content is king resonates more than ever, underlining the pivotal role of compelling and relevant content in engaging audiences and driving business success. With the advent of #AI technology, this age-old adage is both reinforced and challenged, presenting a landscape where content creation and consumption are evolving in unprecedented ways. On one hand, AI empowers marketers and content creators with powerful tools for personalized content delivery, enabling tailored experiences that resonate with individual preferences and behaviors. Enhanced efficiency in content creation, driven by AI #algorithms, streamlines workflows and reduces resource overheads, allowing businesses to produce and distribute content at scale. Additionally, #AI-driven #analytics provide valuable insights into content performance, facilitating data-driven decision-making and continuous #optimization strategies. However, the rise of AI in content creation also raises ethical concerns and potential pitfalls. While AI-generated content offers efficiency and scale, it risks diluting the authenticity and creativity inherent in human-generated content. Moreover, the reliance on AI algorithms for personalization may exacerbate issues of misinformation and privacy breaches, highlighting the need for stringent oversight and ethical guidelines in AI-driven content strategies. Balancing the benefits of AI-driven content with ethical considerations is paramount to ensuring that content remains not only engaging and relevant but also trustworthy and responsible in the AI era. A dark side of #AI in marketing? Are we asking the right questions? 😵👇 It’s easy to get caught up in the buzz around AI's potential, but the reality is more complex. From spreading misinformation to creating cybersecurity risks, the way AI is used matters just as much as the technology itself. There are a lot of key risks and challenges—and it’s a conversation worth having. At WiscWebs, our commitment to transparency and accountability ensures that every AI-infused process we use is rooted in ethical practices. Over the last few years, we’ve seen how AI can streamline processes and enhance outcomes, but only when applied thoughtfully. AI isn’t a shortcut or a magic wand for content creators—it’s a tool that requires thoughtful application to truly add value. The difference lies in how responsibly it’s used and whether it aligns with the trust and values businesses aim to uphold. While regulatory oversight of AI might sound promising in theory, the sheer scale and speed of AI integration make it a challenging prospect. That’s why ethical decision-making starts with businesses like ours. By applying AI responsibly and setting a high standard for transparency, we hope to contribute to a future where trust and innovation go hand in hand. AI has the potential to reshape marketing in profound ways, but it also raises important questions. Can it be leveraged ethically? How do we ensure it builds trust instead of eroding it? The answers to these questions will shape not only the success of AI but also its lasting impact on industries and relationships. The stakes are high, but thoughtful decisions today can set the course for a more trustworthy and effective use of AI tomorrow. #aiinmarketing #ethicalai #artificialintelligence #marketing #future image credit: Recraft
