Today, my heart is heavy as I mourn the loss of my dear friend, Willie Mays. With great sadness, I say goodbye to a remarkable individual who touched my life in countless ways. Our friendship blossomed in the SF Giants clubhouse, where I had the privilege of documenting his godson, Barry Bonds. Willie affectionately referred to me as "The Video Guy," a title I wore proudly. Together, we celebrated the historic Major League Baseball 660 milestone mark, which I had the honor of designing for him and Barry. During a memorable 45-minute interview in the clubhouse, Willie graciously shared stories about himself and Barry, leaving an indelible mark on my heart. Beyond the professional realm, I visited him at his house, cherishing the moments we spent together. Today, I want to express my deepest gratitude to my friend Willie for the cherished memories. Farewell, dear friend, from the person you lovingly called "The Video Guy." #williemays #mlb #negroleague #sayheykid

In a post-game interview right after the Lakers beat the Warriors in a double-overtime, nail-biter of a game last weekend, basketball great LeBron James was asked, “How do you keep getting better?” Just as easily as he scores and defends, LeBron shared some insight into how one of the best continues to get even better. 1. Appreciate and understand those who have gone before. | I liken this to #mentorship – finding those with experience you can not only learn from but who continually challenge you to think differently and push just beyond what you think is possible. 2. Never take the game for granted. It can be taken away at any moment. | This serves as a gentle reminder that business leaders know all too well, success does not give you the license to slow down or take your eye off the ball. 3. Pour energy into your team. Stay true to your game. | Surrounding myself with a strong #team – the board, the leadership team, the entire org – this makes me a better leader and allows Uniphore to deliver excellence while staying true to our #mission. My takeaway from LeBron, never stop challenging yourself to be #better. A philosophy for success, whether on the basketball court, the football field, or in the board room. "The Comeback" docuseries on the RedSox/Yankees rivalry gave me ALL THE FEELS. Revisiting those 2003 & 2004 seasons instantly brought back all the heartbreak, excitement, drama and pure joy from those years. That team….they were just SO easy to love. Especially when, for Red Sox fans, the Yankees were SO easy to hate. The talent was unbelievable (Hello Pedro, Wake, Nomar, Manny, Papi, Damon, Varitek, etc. etc.) but, arguably, Kevin Millar was the true backbone of that team – always bringing the charisma & fun; and being the ultimate hype man (COWBOY UP!). That team had a chemistry that was undeniable & authentic, and you could tell they loved each other as much as the fans loved them. Talent + Chemistry = Magic. That equation is what really separates good teams from great ones – beyond baseball. Don’t just look for a team that checks off the boxes when it comes to basic skills and tactics. Look for people with whom you can have lively debates and discussions, build mutual trust, and have some laughs with even during the stressful times. That’s when the real magic happens. #RedSox #PR #PRTeams #PRMagic

Commitment doesn't guarantee a desired result. If you think of two teams playing at the Super Bowl or MLB World Series...they are both playing to win...but only ONE will win the game. This doesn't mean that the "loser" wasn't committed to the game. This is important to recognize, because from what I have seen lately, is the messaging that because we didn't get to our goal or accomplished what we wanted to, that we were not committed to it. For one...that's not always true (sometimes it is though) Secondly, you can always try again if you don't succeed the first time. Commitment may not guarantee a result, but you can always try again. Commit to the process, not the outcome. #letsgrow #commitment #peptalkwithpepz #letswork #peptalk #foodforthought
