🧐 Why do you like going to conferences, Isabelle? Do they really teach you anything? 🧐
Last week I had the privilege of attending PBA 2024 in Geneva.
🕵♀️ During this conference, I had a mission.
No, I'm not talking about giving another NextMinds workshop.
(Although that part was great!)
🕵♀️ My mission was to get a picture.
A picture with both my former boss (aka my PhD supervisor) and my current boss.
I knew they would both be there (one was chairing the conference, which made my life easier 😅), it was my first conference in 1.5 years, it was THE opportunity!
👀 Why was it so important for you to take this picture, Isabelle?
🤩 Because these two people are not only excellent scientists, they're also fantastic mentors.
🤩 They've both been present in my professional life for over a decade.
🤩 They've both played an essential role in the development of my career, during each step - from the moment I got my PhD to my first steps as an entrepreneur, alongside my position at the university.
This image sums up why conferences can have a huge impact on our careers and professional development. I know I've built a lot myself and can take credit for my professional successes, but I wouldn't be where I am without them.
💝 Conferences go beyond presenting research and networking; they allow you to build long-lasting relationships.
(And yes, it does feel like being in a picture with George Clooney and Brad Pitt 😂)
