90% of startups fail in the first year regardless of top talent and capital. As a startup founder nearing six years into this journey, I’ve had my share of mistakes and learnings. While the challenges never stop, here are a few things can help those just starting out in 2025: 1/ Don’t focus on too many things at once. A startup thrives on clarity and focus. Chasing every opportunity will only dilute your impact. 2/ Build a true team culture—offline. Remote teams are efficient, but real relationships and a thriving culture are built in person. Don’t underestimate the power of a handshake and a shared meal. 3/ Never get too comfortable. If things are going well, it’s exactly when you should work harder. Complacency can kill momentum. 4/ Invest in the right people. Spend time and money hiring the best, even if it feels expensive upfront. Your team will define your growth. 5/ Learn to delegate. Founders often think no one else can do it as well as they can. But great startups are built by empowering others, not micromanaging. 6/ Know when to get in—and when to get out. Whether it’s a product, a market, or a strategy, timing is everything. Staying too long can drain resources; moving out too soon can lose potential. 7/ Stay connected. As your startup scales, it’s easy to lose touch with employees and customers. Regularly step into their world—it keeps you grounded and informed. The startup grind is tough, but these lessons can make this journey a little smoother. Hopefully it will work for you as well. What else would you like to add to the list?
