FUN FACT: Within a single vineyard, different sections or plots can exhibit varying microclimates, resulting in grapes with distinct characteristics. Winemakers leverage this diversity to create complex and nuanced wines by carefully selecting grape varieties and matching them to specific terroirs within the vineyard. For example, grapes grown on a south-facing slope may receive more sunlight and warmth, resulting in ripe fruit with concentrated flavors and higher sugar levels. In contrast, grapes grown in cooler, shaded areas or at higher elevations may retain more acidity and develop more delicate flavors. The next time you enjoy a glass of wine, consider the intricate interplay between terroir and grape variety that went into creating its distinctive flavor profile! #copyeditor #proofreader #copyediting #proofreading #writer #editor #writersofinstagram #editing #bookeditor #copywriter #writingcommunity #contentwriter #writerlife #contentwriting #writerscommunity #indiepublishing #editorsofinstagram #publishing #authorsofinstagram #author #freelancewriters #developmentaleditor #indieauthor #authorlife #grammar

It's been a hot minute since I wrote a food feature for The Globe and Mail, so felt especially nice to be able to wax poetic about the Prairie food scene in this weekend's paper. (And online too, obviously!) https://lnkd.in/gkdPkGep #canadianfood #foodwriting

If we can agree that wine writing is a noble pursuit, we can also agree that it’s ridiculously underpaid. Wine writing is a career, but it’s not a living. So why do we do it? Or why do we keep doing it? In my latest column for the Circle of Wine Writers The Circular, I offer one answer. https://lnkd.in/e3jKP6Cc #wine #winewriting #winewriter

Many nonfiction authors believe their particular methodologies or processes “compelling and new” but are they? This is where I throw in my spaghetti carbonara analogy: Everyone’s mother has a recipe for spaghetti carbonara, and everyone thinks their family recipe stands head and shoulders above all others. But at the end of the day, it’s just another recipe. To you, it’s amazing, but to the average person, all versions taste kind of the same, because they're all minor variations of the same core model. But have someone walk in and say that instead of olive oil, use peanut oil because that enhances the flavor of the bacon and adds a pleasant nutty taste to the cheeses? Well, that departure from the standard contradicts tradition – that garners attention. People take notice of such departures. Something new in an old space catches people. In the same way, a book’s particular methodology, process, or approach may not necessarily suggest something that is compelling or new, because everyone has their own take on the same old recipe. But introduce an element that takes a unique and even contradictory stance by injecting something new into an old and tired process? That provokes. Ask yourself what are the same old ingredients everyone is using and yet what options and potential remain unseen. Oh, and don’t actually try making carbonara with peanut oil. That was just an example. I can barely boil water or operate a microwave. I think some of what I have to say about books may be helpful, but never take culinary advice from me. #publishing #authors #writing #books

The following two books are a go. One is nearly finished, the other is rather a large tome (Churchill)so I’d think it will take a while to finish. No much a reader of Biography but this one piqued my interest. Aside from wine, I’m looking at the brother world; I think a book on the economics of wines and spirits would make an interesting read; what do you think? Whose biography of in the wine world that hasn’t been published yet would you read? #reading #books #sundaybook #winebook #biography

Hi Everyone, I have some exciting news! I've started a blog. The beginning of this year (as well as the end of last year) has been a journey of finding myself a bit more and delving more into some of my passions. I'm doing the YouTube channel thing. I'm running my e-commerce resin shop. I'm loving all of my work. BUT there has been one passion of mine in particular that I feel I haven't given enough attention to and that is cooking and baking! But not just any cooking and baking, ITALIAN cooking and baking. Coming from an Italian family (and I know many of my fellow Italians on here will understand this), we love our food and we take pride in our traditions, much like many other cultures. I've had a deeper appreciation for my ancestors and culture over the last few years and have really enjoyed trying different recipes as well as studying the different regions in Italy. Because of that passion for Italian food and tradition, and because I am primarily a writer, I've decided to start a food and culture blog sharing some Italian recipes (right from my notebook) and writing about some of our traditions and culture! I've already uploaded two recipes with more to come. It is with GREAT pride that I introduce my little Italian food blog, Authentic Italian! 🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹 Check it out below ⤵️⤵️⤵️ https://lnkd.in/eWpfq2mr #blogger #blogging #blogs #blogpost #bloggers #foodblog #food #recipes #Italian #italianfood #italiancuisine #Italianrecipes #writer #writerslife #writing #projects
