If illegal sports betting isn’t a major topic of discussion during tomorrow’s U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on sports betting regulation, it will be a missed opportunity. Illegal offshore sports betting operators are the real threat to the market, exploiting U.S. consumers without safeguards, oversight, or contributions to state economies. Federal efforts should be focused on targeting these illegal sportsbooks — not imposing unnecessary restrictions on the state-regulated industry. Earlier this year, GeoComply released a video exposing the dangers of illegal gambling and its impact on U.S. consumers. I urge lawmakers to watch it and turn their attention on dismantling these illegal operations. Since GeoComply issued this call to action in February, more than a dozen state regulatory bodies have taken significant steps, issuing cease-and-desist orders against one of the largest illegal offshore operators. While these actions are encouraging, they are just the beginning. To be truly effective, state-led initiatives require federal support. Congress should empower federal law enforcement to combat illegal operators who undermine consumer safety and the integrity of the legal, regulated market. Let’s protect consumers and strengthen the state-regulated system that delivers real benefits to communities nationwide. Watch the video here: https://lnkd.in/eah4BRBV
Thanks Anna, we mention black and gray market gambling sites in our statement
This is an excellent point. Senators know this already. Unfortunately. the question is whether they want to discuss substance, or simply grandstand.

It is perplexing to me how little discussion there is around the offshore gambling market in the US, particularly from the main stream media who are choosing to exclusively scrutinise regulated operators.
Did you not see Deion sanders doing a podcast interview for betonline? Enough said!
Such a great video. I just watched it again.

1wHopefully they discuss LEGAL sportsbooks massively limiting and cutting off customers, many times forcing them to offshore books or bookies, which is part of the problem
