The company says to bring in an FTC instead of a day-rate freelancer. Let me show you why a day rate could be more beneficial for your team. Pros of a freelancer on a day rate: 1. Freelancers are immediately free. 2. Freelancers can hit the ground running. 3. Freelance margin is included in the day rate, + upfront. 4. There is a wider talent pool of freelancers to access than FTC. 5. More take-home pay for freelancers: they will want your role way more. Cons of an FTC: 1. Cost-wise, basically a permanent employee. 2. Short-term contracts in comparison, (despite FTC). 3. You need to pay holiday, NI, and perm recruitment fees. 4. There is no guarantee after 6 months they will have a role. 5. Unless FTC is a 12-month gig, why would an employee leave a perm role? Upon selection, they assign a trial task of creating one or two designs. However, after completing the task, they provide responses such as "Sorry, your work is not approved, you are rejected." yet utilizes the created posts without compensating the designers. Commercial Viability? Is it worth it? Does it make sense? Every Designer, whether a Permanent role, a freelance project, a long-term contract; the numbers need to make sense. This is the same for every recruiter...but even more so as majority of the time we're paid contingently on the success of the hire. (Imagine as a Designer you only got paid if you had to keep just tossing interfaces over a fence in the hopes a company might use one and it actually performs...!? Sounds nuts right). Not all companies understand Recruitment. They especially don't understand hiring designers. The best recruiters are selective about what they'll take on, the numbers need to add up. Too all my recruiter mates out there - let's do out best work and let's make sure we're empowered for success every step of the way and remember how to say No when you need to.

NYC: Temp to perm Senior / Lead Product Designer - UX leaning, with b2b enterprise software chops, for AI-powered startup with seasoned founders Our client is an exciting, early-stage startup in the AI-powered workflow / productivity tools space that is completely flipping the script on enterprise software. They're making it FUN and intuitive to use, with punchy visuals and a consumer-grade experience. Imagine that! Their seasoned founders ran their own successful, design-focused company for years, and they are well-known and well-respected.
