🌊 New Report Published: Charting Africa’s Blue Future with Youth at the Helm! 🌍 Excited to share the release of a new publication emphasizing the critical role of youth inclusion in Africa’s blue economy for sustainable development, security, and economic growth, particularly in coastal regions. This report aligns with AfricanUnion Agenda 2063 and resonates with United Nations' Youth, Peace, and Security Resolution 2250, recognizing youth as drivers of resilience and sustainability. Key findings highlight!!! 'Africa’s youth as catalysts for transforming coastal regions into resilient, thriving economies.' By aligning the blue economy with the Youth, Peace, and Security (YPS) agenda, we pave the way for sustainable practices addressing climate impacts, regenerating marine ecosystems, and promoting economic stability. such as initiatives like the #GreatBlueWall, engaging young leaders in conservation and resilience-building, are instrumental in this transformation. 🌍 United Nations Day Today, as we celebrate UN Day, we are reminded of the unparalleled role the United Nations plays in shaping a world defined by peace, justice, and sustainability. For Generation Resonance, this day holds special meaning—our mission, rooted in collaboration with the United Nations Association - UNA Portugal, is to drive transformative youth leadership that resonates across borders. While I regretfully cannot be present at the University of Coimbra event today, my thoughts are with my colleagues. A special"U GO!" to my dear friend André Cardoso, President of CNJ, who will represent our collective commitment to youth empowerment. His voice will be the embodiment of our shared vision. I must also acknowledge Isabel Neves and Eng. Mário Parra da Silva, two extraordinary leaders from UNA Portugal. Their strategic guidance and mentorship have provided the scaffolding upon which Generation Resonance thrives. Their contributions to fostering a symbiotic relationship between the UN and the youth are nothing short of transformative. As we look to the Pact for the Future, we stand at a critical juncture where multilateralism is not a concept, but a necessity. The words of António Guterres resonate more deeply than ever: the challenges we face—climate change, inequality, and the erosion of human rights—demand that we not only speak of unity but demonstrate it through action. The youth of today are not just beneficiaries of these solutions; we are active architects, crafting frameworks that are more resilient, inclusive, and aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Generation Resonance stands firm in its mission to ensure that young voices continue to shape international policy and drive meaningful change. This is our moment to influence global systems, embedding the values of sustainability, equity, and social justice into the very DNA of tomorrow’s governance. Assunção Cristas participates in the 11th edition of the World Ocean Summit & Expo, which returns to Lisbon to foster the debate on actions to transition to a sustainable ocean economy. Assunção Cristas will participate today, March 12th, as moderator of the panel "Effectively managing marine spaces for economic and environmental benefit". This panel proposes to discuss the management of marine spaces that allow commercial activities to be carried out, and how this coexistence can be beneficial for the health of the oceans and for net-zero emissions. Tomorrow, the 13th, Assunção Cristas will participate as a speaker in the session "How to close the gender gap in the blue economy". In this session, speakers are asked to discuss strategies to engage stakeholders from politics, education, the private sector and NGOs to achieve greater gender inclusivity.
