If any of these three games win Game of the Year at The Game Awards, I wouldn’t be surprised—they stand out in a year of great releases. Part of me hopes one wins to set a precedent for gaming's future. - Astro Bot is a game that appeals to all demographics, with a level of polish rivaling the best releases from top SIE studios. It's highly praised by both critics and fans. - Balatro is an indie darling that I can't stop playing. - Metaphor proves that strong art direction and storytelling can shine despite limited resources and older tech. While many games chase visual and technical grandeur, Metaphor prioritizes delivering a powerful narrative and fun experience over flashy fidelity. Out of these three, Metaphor is probably the most likely title to get the nod. I’m aware this is a niche, though loyal, audience within an already niche genre. Selling 1 million copies in a single day is a significant achievement for Atlus, even if it might be considered modest by other industry standards. Still, surprises happen—It Takes Two won GOTY when no one expected it. Either way, I won’t be salty if none of these games win and the award goes to Final Fantasy Rebirth or Black Myth: Wukong. - Final Fantasy Rebirth has been described as generation defining. - Black Myth: Wukong didn't have a boring moment, and every aspect of the game screams passion. 2024 had some great games.
Astro Bot feels like a love letter to gamers of all ages.
GotY needs to go Black Myth Wukong, they deserved it. All these games are great as well.
That Balatro hand is illegal!! I really hope it will win the GOTY but i see it very hard to happen..

12hWhat I love about Astro Bot is that it feels super fast. You jump into the game/story quickly, even when you die it loads back up SUPER fast, plenty of checkpoints in the levels so you're not doing overly repetitive stuff.... I've just rarely come across a game these days that felt like there were no slowdowns....really well done, fun, and fast
