Amphibious Operations and Anti #Amphibious Drills Let there be no ambiguity that China is planning to take over Taiwan, sooner rather than later. China has made its intentions very clear with continuous blockades of Taiwan. To provide teeth to its intentions China has built a massive Amphibious Force which is Tri-Service in nature. To counter this threat from China, the West has been providing Taiwan will a lot of Anti-Amphibious equipment. Taiwan recently bought 1,700 units of the newer TOW 2B system from the U.S. TOW 2B's interoperability with the TOW 2A and its ability to acquire targets at night, is being checked day in and day out. Taiwan may need hundreds of #ATACMS from the US to counter #Naval Amphibious Ships coming from China towards it. This may be the only deterance in the future. With this as background, does Indian Navy have the Amphibious Teeth and more importantly Anti #Amphibious equipment to keep China in check? Do we have the capability to use #Taiwan as a launching pad to launch an operation onto #China's Eastern Front? Some of these questions I put to the Chief of Navy Staff. And this is what he said, as I write for Life of Soldiers https://lnkd.in/gafSPEQm Indian Air Force Indiannavy. 🇮🇳 Indian Navy's bid to attain complete self-reliance by 2040 At present, the percentage of self-reliance in the Indian Navy stands at about 70%. This encompasses all three components of a warship, which are float, move, and fight. ⚓️ While in the float component, India has achieved almost 95% self-reliance. In the 'move' component, it is somewhere at 65% and in the 'fight' component, it is at 55%. The biggest hurdle in India's pursuit of self-reliance in warship construction was the lack of expertise in developing its own engines, Indian Navy veteran DK Sharma stressed. "India first has to get the engines as the country does not have its engines. It is importing them from American manufacturer General Electric (GE). For instance, the latest engines that are coming for the Shivalik class or the Kolkata class of warships of the Indian Navy are either coming from Ukraine or the US. That is one area we are lacking behind and there are some niche weapons where we are in a joint venture (JV) or we are importing and that is why there is a gap," the veteran said.
